Actually, I live in Texas and in my neighborhood there are houses with less than 1k sq ft that go for 200k. Those are the small ones.

 

Yeah, I laughed at the 3-4k sf houses for $100k in Texas as well.

I actively searched the Austin area market considering moving there and yeah, you aren't getting **** for $100k there. Best housing markets for value for the price seems to be some Florida cities and Phoenix.

 

Check the White Rock Lake area in Dallas, near the Dallas Arboretum. Some of these houses are freakin insane!

What approx. 1000 sq ft house with a tiny, very outdated tile floor and tile countertop with cheap cabinets and very cheap appliances costs over half a million dollars? That's insane. Very nice looking neighborhood though I must say.

**** California, I paid 100k for my 1k sq/ft house in a very nice area right in the middle of everything. Low real estate ftw. My buddy just bought a 4k sq/ft house on 5.5 acres with a pool and a 4k sq/ft garage for less than redfires studio apartment.
