Default Lt1 vs. TT Supra

Well, this all started when this guy with a Gs eciplce with a header and intake thinks he's all that. Until me and 3 of my other friends smoked him everytime. So he went and got a 97 TT Supra. And now he really wants to race. All of my friends don't really want to race them because they know they'll loose. But I want to just to see what happens. I know they come stock with 320hp, but probly with some good turbo lag to go with it. He said he'll race me stock and he think he's going to murder me like i did to him before. What do yall think the out come well be if i go from a dig and a roll?

Don't go from a roll. He'll beat you. Supras are top-end monsters. Try and get it from a dig and you have a good chance at winning thanks to the LT1's low-end, even better chance if you can outdrive him.

Thanks man Not really sure about this one though. I think he'll take you from a roll, from a dig it could go either way IMO.

It would be a good race in my opinion. I think they run a lil bit slower than stock ls1's. But im not sure

listen, i raced a modded supra with my 99 camaro ss from a 10mph and i smoked it by about a car and half all the way til 115mph. now i have a rematch happening tomorrow night since he just added a turbo timer and i added a ls6 intake to " uncork" my cam. i am still untuned and i hope i am able to hold him til about 110mph since he is now boosting more. this race will be from a roll and you should have no issues because they just dont " jump" the same way we do. they lag and they start to move once they hit about 100mph. go for it, you should be able to take him.

They have lag until 100...

I was kinda thinking the same thing... this doesn't make sense.

It's not that they don't move until 100mph, it's that they move a hell of a lot better than we do after 100mph. (stock for stock of course, any car can be made into a top-speed runner with enough money)

Turbo timer has nothing to do with power...he'll be in the same position if that's all he's changing.

Be sure to film that race though....that would be real good. I agree with Enis, it could go either way from a dig, but from a roll I just don't see it happening.

I thought that twin turbo cars had very little lag because the smaller turbos are easier to spin then say a large single. If a car didnt come into power until 100 then it would be totally useless....uhhh except for maybe in montana or perhaps on the autobahn where that would be your "normal" speed..

Back in 1993 Car and Driver was able to rip off 13.1 @ 109 and 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. But who knows, is it auto or stick?

The TT Supras have very little lag due to the fact that they have sequential turbos which provide power throughtout all but the very very bottom of the rev range. And like most turbo cars, if they're launched correctly off the line, turbo lag does not occur whatsoever.

turbo lag on a twin turbo car is what..less than a second? a turbo doesn't take away any power, it just seems liek that when all the torque comes on when boost hits.

otherwise motor trend wouldn't busted a 13.1 with the '93. a boost controller is all he needs to put a bus on you.

in the words of ivan drago, you will lose, he will break you.

I had no idea they ran this well, I thought they ran mid to high 13s from the factory. I know somebody with a mid-12 second TT Supra who's been to the track, I'll have to ask him.
