5.br0 goes down...
I agree with the LS cars sounding like poo, but I think my LT1 w/ LT's, ORY, and Magnaflow cat-back is still one of the best sounding cars I've ever owned. Going off exhaust sound only, I think it even sounded a little better than my Cobra.
2v/4v do sound great, too bad their bark is usually much more than their bite. And I think you're dead on regarding the coyote 5.0. So far they usually sound absolutely obnoxious with exhaust work, with the exception of a few from what I've experienced thus far. And I don't mean just loud, but rather obnoxiously loud. Like a hillbilly deluxe straight-piped 350 pick'em up truck. Thank God those things are finally getting a little more rare these days.
My SRT8 Jeep sounded pretty healthy with just a muffler delete. Can only imagine how nice it would have been with headers.

I'm an engineer and I've worked in the automotive industry for 30 yrs and can tell you first hand that German engineers prioritize design complexity over reliability. It's in their nature and reliability ratings of German cars clearly show they perform poorly. The only BMW I would own is one with an LS swap. GMI institute (Kettering University) defines engineering excellence with simplicity and low cost as primary drivers.
I have worked with nearly all of the major car manufacturers as a Design Engineer at a Tier 1 supplier and I can say without a doubt I would never own a German car outside the warranty. Considering I will never buy new due to the depreciation hit, therefore I will most likely never own a German car.

I always got compliments with my C5. 1.75" longtubes, 3" ORX and C5Z Ti axleback, with the help of a 227/230 111 lsa cam. A lot of people loved how it had a relatively quiet lope/rumble at idle and low/cruising rpm, then surprisingly louder when stepping on the throttle. Someone sitting door-to-door next to me at a stoplight with their windows down really couldn't even notice the exhaust (unless they were at the rear or behind me), but if I hit it off the line it was quite unexpectedly loud and shocked quite a few poor Mustangs. Lol. It was pretty much sleeper exhaust.

I like how my car sounds, but then again I don't in ways. It is very loud when I want it to be, but it can be tame. The setup I run, in my eyes, when I'm just cruising through the gears gives off an old 4v type sound in person.
Here's a few videos of how mine sounds. I'll throw one in there of the 2v as well.
I still have my resonators in too... It would definitely be a decent bit louder without them, but I'm scared to take them out. If I were to do it over again with this car, I would do GT500 quads with my O/R X.
2v action, I really miss how this car sounded. It traveled forever, people always texted me asking where I was haha.
Cold starts in the 5.0 are wicked; I love it.
Off topic, but still onto sexy sounding V8's. My buddies old B6 S4 was insane. Catless downpipes, H pipe, into a Milltek catback. This car was Nascar loud but had such a mean growl to it.
That's exactly why I chose it. Almost every C5 axleback paired with longtubes, ORX and 500+hp engine was far too loud for my personal taste on my own car. When I found out the Z06 axleback really didn't leave anything on the table from most other aftermarket axlebacks for sub 600-700hp motors, I knew that was exactly what I was looking for. FWIW, a guy on corvette forum swapped a well known pricey aftermarket axleback (because it was too loud for his taste) with the Z06 Ti axleback on his ~600whp supercharged C5, and lost somewhere around 3 or 5hp.

I've been searching for something like it for the fbody but it's been a struggle. I may just have to get a cutout and keep the stock muffler (which is choking the **** out of my car).
I just can't have a loud car (especially when you're out on the side of the road with law enforcement as frequently as I am). I looked for something with butterfly valves but those options are limited / expensive as hell.
