Why no Cobra? Because it was no faster stock for stock than the 2v!

I remember buying my 99 mustang GT back in 99. It was $10k less than the 99 Ls1's. I added $10k worth of mods to it and was running 11.70's. Those that had the ls1's had to add additional funds to get it to keep up.

Doing something like he did would have been something to brag about on your car, 10k... not so much.

Every single one of you just walked right into a pretty clear trap. You have no problem believing Hio when he says that a car so mildly modded went 11's, but you can't believe that a FBO, 4.10 mustang could beat a mildly modded Fbody? Bunch of hypocrites.
Allow me to pull out the Hio excuses.
1. Well, I did it, so clearly it's possible
2. Yall don't have the skillz to make a 4.6L run
3. Bone stock GT's have gone 13.6@101
4. Everyone here is my bitch
5. I can't produce other examples, because I can't find another car with the exact mods.
Oh wait, I can produce examples of FBO 2V's hitting 12's...

To add some truth to it. This particular mustang had some significant weight reduction and ran harder than any 2V that I've ever seen, including my FBO 98. Plus is had every single bolt on there is, short of EWP and throttle body.
Some of those were cars that I bought for my car lot and never had any intention of keeping.
The LT1 cars were pretty much stock, one had gears. The 98 was lid/tune/lt, and I was never impressed by it, probably one that ran 13.6@104 from the factory.
Never dynoed it. Lined it up against my stock LS2 GTO and it walked all over it, until I ran out of gear. The poor C4 never had a shot.
Even if I did break a trans, I could limp it home. And how many people have broken 10 bolts on stock power levels?
Allow me to pull out the Hio excuses.

You should probably be scared of the trans letting go in those. But get this......I've drove several fcars faster than you have been in your furds that had a 10bolt in them.
Whats holding you back again?
You like being my bitch don't ya
Lolz.....you took the words right outta my mouth

Why are you literally sitting here and trying to tell us in a basic analogy, that a 3 inch erect ***** is just as good as a 6 inch *****?
I really feel as if this is what you are doing.

I'm 529rwhp and I'm on the stock 10 bolt with a T/A girdle cover. If it breaks, it breaks. But I'm not going to sit around not modding, or running my car because I'm worried about it. Yeah, mines an auto so it'll handle more abuse, but if it were an m6 I'd just not run slicks and not launch as hard. But I'd still run at the track though and enjoy my cars.
Either way, 2v n/a

My loaded 99GT cost me $21000, and there were 99 loaded SS's that stickered at $30,000
This was back in 99. Tell me about it. Back then 13.9's stock for a new car that cost $21k was a deal. It took every bolt on, bottle, and suspension mod to make that 2v "fast". It hung just fine with 04 Cobra's that had 2.76 pulley, intake, cat back and tune. I miss my 04 SY Cobra.

Well if you want to play that game, my buddy bought used parts, fabbed up the hot and cold side for his on3 turbo setup and had less than $800 in his ls1 fbody. Your 11.70 is a joke compared to it, especially if you're talking about spending 10k to only run an 11.70. idc how much cheaper the car was new.

What does that have to do with taking a new 2v down the track with $30K invested in it and running much faster than those who paid $30K for their stock 99 RAM air TA or 99 Camaro SS?
I'd like to see your average college kid run 11's in a brand new 2016 Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger today for under $30k (price of car + mods) like we were doing it back in 99 in the mustang's + mods.
Bottom line is that the new 99 mustang GT back then with $21k paid + $10k in mods were dominating the 99 Camaro SS and 99 RAM air TA's at the same price point @ $31K total spent for just the car alone and there wasn't anything that anyone could do about it. No one with a brain back then with $31K in their pocket bought those GM cars to be faster than a Ford guy with $31K in his pocket who went with the 99 GT + bolt ons.....LOL they bought them because they like the cars themselves. Just like no one bought a 99 Cobra to be faster than a 99 GT, because it wasn't any faster. Ford royal fucked up on the 99 Cobra. Guys that wanted to go fast in 99 for $30K in a new car back then were going with the GT's or the Z28's. They sure as hell weren't buying the discounted 98 GT's in 99 if they wanted to keep up LOL. I still remember the sales guy at Ford trying to talk me into a 98 GT for 18,500 when the newer, faster body style 99 GT was sitting right next to it.
Anyone can talk **** about a 281 2v by today's standards, but back then, it enabled me as a college student/40 hour per week job to have a new car and run 11's. Had I bought the new Camaro SS or RAM air TA, I would have been stuck with a stock car no where near the 11's at the same price level.

I remember looking at the times in 99 of the GT vs the Cobra. Both were around 13.9 in the 1/4 mile.
LOL anyone can buy a roller and go fast on a good budget with the right mods.

I had one friend that went with the 99 SS and another that went with the 99 Ram Air and they both spent around $30K and they both pulled on my 99 GT. We all could afford around $30k at the time. So what did I do? I used the extra $9K to mod the GT and was faster. While all were essentially new cars, they had the nicer car... just slower than I was.
So when I hear **** being talked about a 2v, all I can do is laugh because back then it was the **** in it's price point all things considered. The Z was a little more but the 99 cobra was an absolute joke.
