*Place your bets* GT350 vs stock 6th gen

That remains to be seen. Rumors and speculations from the Camaro6 board that the 1LE is going to beat the 350R... wow who would have guessed? In other news, the sky is blue and grass is green.

I wouldn't call it embarrassing. Ford met its mark with the 350/350R and GM is answering accordingly. The back and forth is great for us consumers.
I will admit, Gm has been pushing a lot of tech first lately. Ford was spoiled for so long not having a direct competitor for the Mustang. Those were great years for business and profit margins when GM allowed them to skate by with the dated 3v from 05-10.

If the Z/28 doesn't heavily beat the GT350R, then GM completely failed. They've had more than enough time to study the R and beat it with a newer chassis.

As already stated, just makes it better for the consumers (like us) who care about performance.

...and all short lived. As Marc was trying to say, the fight to stay on the top by the car manufacturers is never ending. One will simply wait to see what the others comes out with and then do one better.

Oppenheiser said the new 1LE is 3 seconds faster than old 1LE on their test track. That would still put the new 1LE 2 seconds slower than the 5gen Z/28 on their test track. The Z/28 can't hang with the GT350R, what makes you think the slower 6gen 1LE will?

So from the math above the gt350r is about 3sec faster than the gt350 on a 2min track. If the 6gen is as fast as the gt350.....and it looks to be that or faster. Then that put the 1le right on the gt350r. Maybe faster.

Beating the gt350 is a done deal. It's got the r in its headlights.

The z28 hung well with the gt350r on wore out tires. I've posted the links to that fact. Both on new tires i may give the z28 the edge. For sure new tires can easily make up the 1.2 second it was diwn while beating the gt350 by 1.8 second. Remember we are talking about the latest greatest furd vs a 10yr old engine/chassis.

It's great for everyone. Not looking so great for the wallet tho.
Nate sure does think about **** alot.

Where are you drawing that conclusion from the math above? The new 1LE is 2 seconds slower than the old Z/28, which was at least 1 second slower than the GT350R - both times done on ~2 minute tracks. That would mean the 1LE is 3 seconds slower than the 350R, which means it'll be struggling with the GT350. Also the 6gen and GT350 don't even have lap times on the same track yet.

GM is obviously playing catch up considering they don't have anything to beat the GT350R which has been out since MY 2015. Nor anything to compete against the Ford GT.

The author of the article said the Z/28 was on a fresh set of tires. You gonna refute the guy who wrote it?

Think about it.....there's a ****** reason furd has cherry picked the tracks the gt350 has ran. 6gen >gt350
Hell the 5gen was > all previous furds. Furd never had nothing to compete with it till the gt350r

I posted proof it wasn't. ....it's in this thread. Besides that you could see the tires was shot. Please back up your claim.

Glad you enjoyed it! Not to worry, the Camaro was tested on fresh tires. They had to be replaced again after that test, hence the mention in the long-term update.
Thanks for reading!

I sent an email to the author of the article, Scott Evans. He replied with:
You sound like a conspiracy theorist man. Ford cherry picking track times for the GT350 that are done by magazines? Lol. If anyone, it's GM that's paying off the magazines.
"It didn't beat the z28. But..... I'll let you put it together from here. There were laps faster than the 1:39" directly from the thread you linked.

Sounds like they were timing it with stop watches and watching. The 1le had a passenger for a lot of the runs as well.
Someone else who was there posting on mustang6g claims it beat the z28 and he has access to the official times.
Looks like its going to be within a few tenths either way compared to a z28. Base 350 is toast.
1le is a tire swap away from beating the 350r.
what in the world is Ford going to do against the z28?
