The stipulation at engine labs were stock displacement, mild camming, 11:1, 10k budget.

They used **** cams and intake

As a Coyote owner, I will admit the LS crap is a lot cheaper to pick up used or even new stuff for when it breaks

Tming tensioners are unnecessary

Baby cobra jet and l&m cams make more power

Phaser limiters murder power.

In short almost nothing was done right ny engine labs and their coyote is 60 hp short of a mild build.

3000.00 junkyard engine
979 cobrajet intake
350.00 4.5" cai
600 scj throttle body
250Stock hardware
150 baby cj exhaust cams
850 l&m intake cams
Stock rods can take 8200 plus rpm
160.00 stock 2015 mustang pistons
100.00 boss 302r exhaust springs stock retainers


6600.00 and 580+ hp.
They did a follow up with different intakes. A CJ on the coyote picked up a few hp. A Holley on the ls3 gained like 50. The gap got even worse as they kept modding.

Loo. Th cobra jet HAS to have the oval throttle body and 4.5" - 5" cai.

And it gains more than a few. But you know what ever.

There is zero point to this discussion. Chevylabs is going to get the same result no matter what. I knoe the reality and tht is all tht matters.chevy labs use a gen1 coyote.

I built my ls1. Been a mechanic off and on for 15 years now.

Had finishline performance do my heads and cam install on my 2010 because I chose to. Didn't have the extra time and I had the money. It never blew up.

It doesn't really matter what they use. The ls3 is very basic. Mast heads and a solid roller setup and the coyote will never come close once the ls3 is spinning 8000+ rpm.

Not in late model cars Them gutted 2500lb tin can race cars doe... we all know the LS needs a lightweight car to perform man. Even the hiocrew proves that. Us Coyotahs run better at full weight for sure.
