Default ran a '68 C-10 LQx 7.5psi 76mm turbo in the coyote

First, as is usual for me, I want to praise the nice 68 C-10 that was tearing up the streets. I could hear that something was up (terbo, supercharged)with the truck as he hit WOT a few times.

that truck accelerated from a low roll to kicking *** in just a few seconds. I honestly wasn't going to give it a go because he looked unbeatable. I mean if you see a pickup truck that sounds boosted in some way and accelerated insane, why bother.

well after a few hits in front of me we stopped at a light with me behind him.

we hit it from a low roll I was in 3rd gear at 5500 when he hammered it,(he goddamned hammered it) I went WOT. at 7500 I shifted and kept it WOT to the top of 4th. I started 3 cars behind and just stayed 3 cars behind. I did not gain an inch, but I felt pretty good he didn't pull and inch either.

that truck ain't no ****. we stopped at a light and I asked him about his truck. he said they are tuning on it.

he has a LOT of headroom to add boost. I figure he has to be in this forum.

light blue 68-70 C-10 LQx with a 76 in Huntsville AL. surely his truck is well known.

I was impressed by the coyote hanging in with a vehicle that fast.

he said my car is fast....I said it is for 5 liters and went my way.

I had 100+ pounds of wire rolls and misc. stuff for wiring my house in the car. I might have pulled up on his bumper without that stuff. maybe.

you gotta love a heavy vehicle matching a modern multivalve car.

i didnt have time to get a lot of info. im going tomorrow night in arab alabama. baileyton dragway.

they are letting me run between rounds. at least i can get info. im going to try to take it easy and not get kicked off the track until i add max boost.

im going to lift and coast at 6500 in 2nd gear. im trying to get 330' times and tune whatever i need. i do know i have to mess with the transfer function a little. im am running 75 percent 112 octane.

after i get some hits to see how i have to adjust the suspension to stay WOT and get a hero run at 18-20psi.

you see shifting this trans is an issue staying together. i have the convert forced unlocked. im considering short shifting 2-3 so i can get a long run in 3rd gear high load.

lots of speculating. temptation. i will be leaving the line at zero boost. i have to change the master cylinder from a 1-1/16" to 13/16" so i can hold the car on the converter. i just havent done it. manual brakes.

Low roll = 5500 rpm in 3rd? Sounds more like a Cobroll.

Good run!

the 96gt has the stock 4r70w and a converter with 500 rpm over stock. i had a nice converter with the 5.4 3v got rid of it when i built the first turbo. i never intended to track that version of the turbo. it simply cant take 650-750 rwhp.

What kind of gearing puts you at a low roll in 3rd and 5500rpms?
With 3.42 gears 26.6" tire I'm at 100mph at 5,600rpms in 3rd, Hell I'm running 70mph at 5,500 and almost 50mph in 1st lol

I'd need a nice long straight to see what it'll top out at but I'm not sure I want to see what happens to an S-10 at more than 130-140mph, With my gearing 4th gear at 6,500 puts me at 150mph...Not sure why I even have a 6-speed lol

5500 rpms
3.73 gear
26.7" tire
1.69 3rd gear

69mph.

we stopped at 121 mph.

he picked the speed he wanted to take the hit...it just happened to correspond to a great rpm for me. the coyote is running 93 so only 448/406.

My trans has a 1.30 3rd and .50 6th, The trans is a Camaro 1le tr6060 close ratio but my 3.42 gear is killing me. I thought about 3.73's but that still puts me at 1600 rpms at close to 70mph in 6th and 4.11's will cruise at 1800pms 70mph. This is in a 3900lb S-10 so I could use the leverage.
