Default old mans 65 355 impala vs. Z06

Hey. I was riding with my pops today to get a hair cut. Well on the way back, I spotted a yellow c5 up ahead and threw a 20 dollar bill at my dad and said go get him.He floored it to catch him and i was thrown back into the seat hard. It was the first time i had been in the impala and wasnt expecting that. well we got up to the vette and i noticed a z06 badge and the other z06 affairs and smiled at my pops and he smile back. We threw a rev the vettes way and he threw a good one back too, from what i could tell he had a few mods. We launched at the green light with my dad hooking instantly with his mickey thompsons and the vette spinning a lil bit not bad, we isntantly had a car on him, when we shifted into second we pulled another car on him the nshut down at the top of secind. Btw. the impala has a completely forged bottom end, trick flow twisted wedge heads ported and bigger valves, Edelbrock Victor jr. intake demon 750 cfm carb, Turbo 350 tranny with manual valve body, 3500 stall torque convetor, comp cams magnum 305h hydraulic flat tapped cam, march pulleys, and msd pro billet race distributer, And a crap load of good suspension stuff.

that combination in that heavy car is not enough to take out a z06 it probably only makes between 390-420 flywheelhp and 410-430tq depending on CR which in a 65 impy is not enough to beat a z06

Gee, unless it's on MTs with stupid tall gears to pull one, you know, for two gears. Which is what happened.

you realize that that combo in a 65 imp should only run mid 13's at best.

i dont understand. yall cant appreciate a gen 1 small block taking out a gen3. wtf? oh no it cant happen a z06 is unstoppable oh no. I even pulled on one in my old z so my camaro must of been unstoppable. Or yall must be mistaking the cam for the lt1 305 comp cam. but ohwell. i just dont think a z06 is the fastest thing in the world and if we have walked on a viper in this imapala there was no reason to say that i am bs'ing

Doesn't surprise me at all due to the circumstances of the race. Aside from that.. topend should be murder.. considering the insanely great aerodynamics of the impala (sarcasm).

Peace,
Josh

i'm not underestimating a gen 1 smallblock at all i've built plenty. and yes i know the cam you mean it's nothing fancy .525 lift 305 adv. duration it's an off the shelf cam and not suited well for a heavy vehicle because of the higher powerband and lack of low end tq which is required to get a heavy car moving. and unless the car is completely gutted with fiberglass parts it's not going to be under 3500 especially with two passengers try 3800 to 4000 depending on interior and your own body weight and whatever else is in the car. i'm not being a dick it's just simple facts that unless the z06 blew the tires off it shouldn't have happened

I can rape a Zo6. Bring it and its price tag the hell on. Dig race, hell, I'll even spot 'em. Don't get me wrong, I love the Zo6, and would love to have one-but don't discount the pure power that a proper 1st Gen can dish out, nor the ***-whippings. Am I modded, hell yeah. Do I run on DR's, hell yeah. I figure if you can afford a 40k+ plus car, you can afford some good tires, too.........

did you read the engine description for the impala engine? it's a decent combo but not for a heavy car. he said he had mickey thompsons on it so what the car could be jacked up with airshocks and a set of L60 MT indy profiles for all we know combination is everything. and just what do you have that would hand a zo6 it's ***? i'm old school prefer a carb over efi and have done nothing but dragrace old cars for a long time and thats why i understand that the motor is wrong for that car and the imp shouldn't have won unless this guy is leaving out details.

Mid 13s at around 97-98mph. But nevertheless, it'd probably still tree, and 330 most cars out there.

Second gear is over at what, 50mph with a tall rear gear? This is ENTIRELY possible especially considering he's on MTs and the vette's on radials.

Really? I'll assume that the car that can "rape a Z06" isn't listed in your sig. The cars listed in your sig would be lucky to finish only 3-4 carlengths behind a well driven Z06. Granted , most Z06's you'll come across aren't driven by people who know how to squeeze the most out of their cars but any '02 or later Z06 is capable of running 12.0's - 11.9's all day long. If the Impala had a loose converter , sticky tires and a tall gear , then this race is very believable. However , that would mean that they were probably doing 70-75 mph when they got out of it and they only raced for an 1/8 mile.

That's cool. Wanna race? Big-Headed ***. Let's go pinks if you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fast.
I'm not a web-warrior. I don't list everything just so people like you can "internet race" me. Like I said, bring your high dollar Zo6. I love your car, and we might just get along. Don't judge me. Or my car.

ok i was just wondering, your 67 would more than likely hang with a stock z06, but that is stock, so i would not run around claimin you could kill z06's, but i am just goin by your quarter mile time in your sig, so feel free to correct me if im wrong

why be an ***? i'm mean really, what's the point? he had mt streets and they raced to the top of his second gear.......nothing more, nothing less....i'm already repeating what others have pointed to, but why be a dick? he never said anything about wasting a zo6 at the strip......

Traction along with the stall converter pulled the Z06 briefly. The guy in the Z06 would've reeled the Impala in real quick after 2nd gear. But hey...who cares. Street racing is a different ballgame. I say good kill.
