Default Bolt On 335i vs C6 Z06

Not much racing going on lately, so me and a buddy tried out his stock Z06 against the 335i from a 20 roll with the 335i getting the hit.

335i = Bolt Ons, Street Tires, Pump Gas.

C6 Z06 = Truly stock with NT05R’s on 19” wheels

Yes.

I had to start my car out in 2nd gear and just roll into the throttle to keep it spinning straight. Open diff = Gay.

Just crazy seeing a car on DRs spinning like that! Especially on a stock tune!

Thanks Honkies!

We’re just hoping this race boosts some of the locals morale and gets the scene jump started this season.

I was amazed at how poor traction is on a C6, and even more surprised how mild(useless) the stock TC is. At first I thought I was overreacting from being spoiled by a full drag prepped suspension but they are a handful! My bone stock LS3 with Eagle F1s absolutely massacres the tires in first and second, and the rear almost always yanks violently to the left. I can't imagine adding another whopping ~70hp/40tq on top of that with the LS7! That is also with TC + Stability control both turned on. It is definitely a "performance" TC - not your average "hit-a-brick-wall-as-soon-as-the-tires-spin" like many cars have. If you are getting on a C6+ expecting TC to save your ***, you are in for a rude awakening. I have driven LS3 Camaro's with the same power and they do NOT behave as dramatically.

I guess that's why people wrecking Z06s and ZR1s are so common...they are downright difficult to launch from a dig or low roll, even bone stock. I might even go so far to say they are just plain dangerous on street tires...and I have driven some straight up death traps on the road lol.

C6 definitely isn’t as bad as a Viper but they are definitely not predictable like fbomb, 5/6G, Br0 cars are.

Doesn’t help that eagle F1’s are complete trash.

I never have the tc or any of that stuff on in my car. As soon as I get in it I hold the button down until it’s all off. Been doing that since it was stock. When it’s on and can do some weird **** and send the car another direction. It’s safer to have it all off.

Thanks man!

Wish the car had the fuel system to support E85, but I’ve got too many other irons in the fire.

Idk wtf yall are talking about but phils car hooked great. The gear/clutch has changed that but it's very manageable even on stock rubber.

From my experience with a few of them, they are definitely less predictable than an fbomb or other similar cars at similar power levels.

Glad BWP is liking his.

I just slapped a 97 dollar walbro 450 and a 5 dollar ebay bundy fitting in mine. It supports all the E you wanna run. Make a huge difference also.

Doesn’t come close to supporting mine at even E30 mix

Thanks for the tips and making me confident I'm not just crazy or its just my car lol.

With TC Off the throttle response is even more terrible though . I hate the throttle tune on these cars, it is soggy as hell until ~50% throttle...and feels even worse with TC off which makes no sense. Guess I need a tune or whatever the heck that Vitesse or w/e box is I've seen mentioned. I will try with TC off though since you are correct - the car responds "weird" for lack of a better word under heavy acceleration with it on, and it is unpredictable.

I know its apples to oranges since the TQ delivery is different, but I had F1s on my turbo lexus that made an easy 70+ more hp and while they weren't great, they hooked a lot better on that 500hp car then on the ~435hp Vette and didn't randomly yank to one side. It was a medium S360, so was already building boost at 3k so it wasn't a total dog down low like most JZ builds. With the C6 I can punch it 5 times in a row and each time it will decide to snap the rear at different speeds and RPMs.

Absolutely love the damn car though...so much fun to drive.

There is definitely a noticeable difference in an LS3 Camaro and LS3 Vette launching, at least on the street. Likely not as pronounced on a prepped track like you are used to. The Camaro is much more predictable and well behaved when you goose it. Vette will randomly decide to yank the rear to the left, at least with SC+TC on. Have not tried getting on it with them off but Detoxx said it is much better OFF. That seems counter intuitive so I can see that being the reason why a lot of new drivers wreck them. I have seen no less than 4 threads in the last month or two on corvetteforums about wrecked C6s, Z06s, and ZR1s...mostly from new drivers who basically said "The TC was on full but it got away from me!" I thought they were just lame *** non-driving posers until I got one myself .
