This is 100% what it is to me also. It seems the word "stock" is just getting looser & looser. Stock from the factory stock or modified stock or adjusted stock? Some like to hide details & look special. Some love telling all the details to help others.

Not me it's been modified regardless. They probably used ARP bolts, new bearings as well but doing just rings it shouldn't matter. It's been altered from stock. The same argument can be used about rockers being a bolt on and we all know how that goes in here

True. When someone says "stock motor" the last thing I think of is the motor even being out of the car. Much less disassembled, modified/adjusted parts, & re assemble with new/upgraded hardware/parts. Someone saying "a stock bottom end, with new bearings, regapped rings, & upgraded hardware & gaskets". I see no problem.

About rockers. My experience was that about 25 years ago they were considered a bolt on. As now some of the "bolt on" lists do not allow after market rocker arms. To me it's just whoever is making the rules. As "must have stock rocker arms" or "aftermarket, different ratio, rocker arms allowed."

So how about this one. Seeing as my block is actually a 5.3 alum. block. Is it ok to just call it a 5.3? It's only modified a little bit from stock but no reason to tell?

Stock means stock, exactly as it rolled off the showroom floor. The only exception to this is wear items such as tires, air filters, spark plugs, etc, and you can only call it stock if you've replaced those with a stock equivalent. My camaro is stock, the only thing I've done is add a coat of wax. When you're talking about filing rings, or adding a cutout, or modifying the intake, or changing timing, or bypassing the TB heater, etc, then it's no longer stock.

Specificity is only dumb if your argument requires malleable facts.

Going to try to get the car dialed in 21/22 psi on the stock turbos and remove the exhaust system to see if this fatty will hit tens with bolt ons.

i would like the mods to ban anyone who doesn't post tech in every comment...

also all canadians....and all farmers......the only candians who can stay are frenchies. because they arent really canadian. they are cool with me. especially if they take part of canada with them. oh, and no canadian teams ever win a stanley cup.

it is, after all, an AMERICAN CUP, named after a great american. brett hull. and gordy howe.

that all i gotta say. none of that was political. or racist. and only one word was a cuss word......canada. jusy sayin.

lol ya you mean the one that hasn't passed water between the block and head deck for what 10 years or so now. I wonder sometimes if these idiots actually think about what they are saying and how much it truly detracts from the Engine Program and R&D they put into that effort.

The Montreal Canadiens have only won the cup like 24 times and Canada only wins the gold medal like every time.

If they say "stock" block & heads go after em. Or do you just mean when "factory" furd block & heads is used? Meaning not aftermarket & have a furd stamp on them with whatever work/mods done.

I think what they mean is that it's a Ford piece, not something custom built.

It's a production block designed by ford.

Might as well just grab a $10K billet block like the LS car.
