You can add me to that list too. I didn't buy my car to race, I bought it to enjoy driving and to have fun with it. Autos are boring.

4 years with an auto. I don’t find it boring. That’s a mental excuse when manual guys give themselves when they lose a race, “yea my manual is more fun”. Lol

Stick is way more fun to drive. But meme is about racing not driving around etc. Auto is easier on parts too due to driveline shock.

Bluetechs aren't very good.....or you wouldn't be talking about modding them to keep them going. It's even reflective in the price. The newer bluetech is less expensive than the 05/06 cdi models.

The local Mercedes repair told me to stay away from bluetechs to. I do alot of work for them so they're pretty straightforward wuth me.

I'm not in the crowd that thinks a auto is faster.

Interesting - I've owned two, know of plenty with high mileage. The DEF system doesn't need to be modded, and it's easily fixed if you run into an issue. I only suggested the delete as an alternative. But I guess my ownership, plus the other 4 close friends I have with Bluetecs, is totally different than your mechanic's experience.

Could be. Glad you've had good luck with yours. The def system on everything is a pita. I guess the real difference is isn't that they can't go high mileage.....it's the cost getting there. When we started looking i read up a bunch on the models and differences because i simply didn't know anything about either. The i6 cdi definitely seemed to have the better following and reliability factor. No particulate filter to replace either on the old cdi stuff.

Pre-emissions diesels are easier to maintain without question...that's exactly why I mentioned deleting the emissions garbage on the Bluetecs - essentially makes them as reliable as the CDIs.

My guess is as with alot of stuff and especially modding a german car deleting is probably $$$. And if i were to try to resale a deleted diesel here it limits the area to sell it. There are counties near here that have emissions......and who knows when they will try and implement that here. All the **** from the city has alre6had a larger influence here than they should have.

Pretty sure he didn't make 1000+. But if that's the excuse you need to tell yourself to avoid him that's on you.
