Cool Vid! Nice to see a SRT-4 neon out there on the street done right! The clutch should be done on mine this week then it’s going to North Carolina to get dyno tuned for 40psi. No shame in it hanging. Mine should also be around 900 at the crank on kill which is over 150 trap for those cars.
Sounded like the clutch was slipping in 4th. Did he have a 15 on the front with a drag radial? Should hook 4th then with suspension. He might not have a twin disk clutch which he should at that point.

Being on the other end of that is frustrating (spinning aint winning unless it's a burnout contest!). I learned a long time ago to get the stickiest tires realistically possible. Although I dont know that much about the SRT's, is it possible it doesn't have a real sticky tire because he doesn't want to risking blowing something up in the drivetrain?

To me it definitely sounded like the clutch slipped in fourth. Irregardless that’s why having V8 power is win that isn’t turbo for the street. Linear power that’s instant. Not laggy 4 cylinder power that all the sudden comes in.

Yea a 4cyl power curve is **** when they make that much power......well when the turbo makes that much power.
On one of our old vintage bmw's there was a 4cyl turbo gtp car. The engine/turbo set up on it was unlike anything i have seen. There were 2 throttle bodies cammed different. One was on the engine, it was cammed to be much faster. Basically get to wot and stay there to spin the turbo. The other was on the turbo inlet side to basically vary the speed of the turbo and actually drive off if it.

I have been in the neon game for 13 years. He shouldn’t have a problem hooking fourth with a 15” drag radial. I’m running a 15x8 with a Mickey Thompson Street S/S on mine. Doesn’t sound like he is using a WOT box either.

Good info.. kinda of figured as I've driven some turbo 4 and 6 cylinders, nothing that powerful however. Not sure how old you are but I do remember when the electronics/technology was there yet and the Supra's were making serious dyno #'s but couldnt efficiently put it down.. 900rwhp and going high 10's! Boy has that changed!
