Talking whipped a vette

i was coming home from hooters and just got off the highway exit, i end up next to an c5 vert. it had dealer plates and the guy was clipping along at a decent pace. We hit up a light, I lean over and say nice car. He says ya thanks, his wife or girl friend in the car says "well say it back" (to him) and i hear nothing, okay ******* in a vette, not the first time thats happened. whatever light goes green i just leave normally, he does a quick break torque (auto) then blows by me. i say **** that, leave it in gear and just mash the pedal to get up and try and get him from a roll. i pull next to him and nothing...nothing...nothing...okay i give up go up to about 5 over the speed limit and am just cruising. then wham! out of no where the jacko does a fly by! THATS IT! I catch back up to him and just sit there ready to downshift. luckily the guy does it again and i slam it into 2nd, 3rd, easy into 4th, i had a good 2 cars on him. He stayed about 4 cars behind me for another 2 miles. then we both got caught at a red light. he asks "how about we go from here to the next light" well the next light is really really far down, i respond "maybe till double the speed limit or something, i dont wanna get going tooo fast." okay, hes break torqueing the **** out of it, i rev up to about 2.5. light turns green, i pop the clutch but (stupid me) forget to add gas!!! he takes off, i bog, then come back up. hes about 1-2 cars up now, i bang off 2nd and am at his ***, 3rd gear and even, im at his nose at the end of 3rd, hit 4th and get about 1-1 1/2 cars then call it off. Silly vette! We get to the next light, Im like nice race. He responds "well you car has a better top end" I'm thinking what??? I say back "its the same engine manno." I turn left he goes straight.

Spark notes: Jack-off in vette does flyby
I catch up beat him on a roll
From a dig i bog and still catch up and win.
He knows nothing about Camaro's nor his Vette's top end.

what a tool....sounds like he was giving ricer excuses (that don't even make sense). since when (stock for stock) has an f-body been made for higher top end than a vette?

stock for stock the vette is
1) more aerodynamic
2)A few hundred pounds lighter
3)if it was an auto it was either 2:73 or 3:23 which means it is geared for top end

Great Kill and good writing

Sounds like that Jerkoff got you a little riled and that is probably why you didn't give it the gas at the 'go'.

I have to say that I see many Vette kills by F-Bodys in this section (I even have one of my own) but I do not recall EVER seing a Vette kill of a F-Body

great kill man. I love taking on c5's because they are usually old men who only have the car as a status symbol, know nothing about its performance, and have no clue how to drive. I have race 5-6 c5's, and have yet to be beat. Two of those were at the track and both guys couldnt pull bellow a 13.6.

ya thanks, wasn't my first vette kill. i let my best friend drive our familys vette while i was in the ss. i won again from a dig and on 2 rolls, but the vette wouldn't downshift so it looked like i really gave the vette a whoopin on that one. i like vettes, just wish sometimes the people driving them would take the time to learn a little bit about them and other cars.

Gee silly Vette

I have killed many F-bodies in my C5, I just have done it at the track. Mod for mod I'm usually .1-.3 quicker than the f-bodies in my club. A bone stock C5 can hit 170+mph. Mod for mod they will generally out top end your car. The reason you see so many F-body - Vette kills are 1) A lot of Vette owners buy them to tool around in and therefore are running an A4 with 2.73 gears and 2) there are many, many more f-body owners on this site which is bound to skew the #'s. Nice kill on the Vette, but know thy enemy. The next one you meet may not be so easy.

Oh and I always give props to a nice ride, to bad the guy was a dick. Probably the first fast/nice car he's owned.

That is very true. If I were to come accross a c5 that had the same mods as me, and new how to drive, he would put it to me. No doubt, but like you and I said the majority of vette owners only have them to say 'I drive a vette'

oh i agree, my motto is: generally if you hear a nasty sounding vette..its more than just exhaust...because the owner had enough cash to buy the vette, so he isn't just gonna put crap *** parts on his car.

..and you also have to watch out for the guys who've changed everyhting except the stock mufflers

lol sometimes i feel the same about some SS drivers... example: i had a guy come in the shop the other day with an 02 SS, purely stock (said he was "waiting on the warranty to let up" before he modded...suuure)... wanted about a grand of audio blah installed, so while we did it he stayed in the shop and watched, so i decided to make conversation with him about his ride. i asked STUPID questions... questions that i obviously knew the answer to already, just to see if the rich boy knew a thing about his LS1... nah, he told me it was an LT1. lol i seriously started laughing. it was sad, though... i wanted to tell him to take it back and get something that would suit him better, like a beemer or a miata or somethin. ha. anyway sorry for the long story... and nice kill, btw.
