Default Boxster vs LS1

I posted this over at cz28 also, but figured I would share with you guys.. Please note the edit at the bottom!! Woohoo!!

<paste>
Now I am still a newb to the racing thing these days.. So this may or may not be something to brag about...

Driving home from pool league on I4 at about 11pm tonight I pass a silver Porsche Boxster at about 65 and as I pass I give it a little gas... I did not see an attempt for him to catch up to my slow 70, so I brushed it off as a no go..

20 seconds later he goes to pass and I just barely caught it as I thought he did not want to go.. Well I hit it, catch up next to him easy, but we had to shutdown for traffic...

We get through the traffic and slow to about 65-70 or so.. I was watching him more than my speedo, waiting for him to hit it.. People don't seem to do that three honk thing around here, so I just watched and listened for his gas.. Sure enough he hit it, immediately followed by my doing so... Since he got the jump he pulled a half car, but soon followed by my reeling him in and passing him easy... I was stoked, even though I know Boxsters are the slowest of the Porsche line... We shut down with me 3 cars ahead easy at about 115, which was good since I still have a speed limiter...

I pulled up next to him to either go again, or give a thumbs up.. I got neither.. I could see he had a girl in there with him, so I think he was a bit upset... He wanted nothing more to do with my car.. I ran side by side for a good couple minutes hoping he would, but to no avail...

Well like said, I know it is only a Boxster.. But I am still pretty stoked.. I really love my car!!

Edit: Oops I was wrong, it was not a boxster.. I am not to up on my Porsches so I went to cars.com to look and make sure I got it right.. It was a 911, not a Boxster!!! Sweet!!! Now I am super stoked!!!

What year 911? Could be believable. Operative word being "could".

I do not know what model it was, it was 11pm or so and was dark out.. Obviously it was not one of the 500hp models. It looked to be around an 00-04 year. I looked and the base model is rated at 320hp.. If that is a flywheel rating, which I am sure it is, then an LS1 could beat that yes??

Go kill, but probably not a newer model if you indeed pulled on it that hard.

Metal, seeing the rear pics of the car in that article make me 100% sure it was a 911 and not the Boxster I orginally thought. When I came up behind and passed hi inititally I remember it looking exactly like that. Again it was dark, so I could not see any badges which would designate what option model it was... But I am sure it was indeed the 911...

As said before, I am pretty happy with the result regardless.. We had two runs, and I pulled well on both of them, so I dont think it was a fluke??

I'm not sure how you could possibly ever confuse a boxster and a 911 ... regardless of how dark it was.

Base model = 0-60 in a tad under 5 seconds ... quarter in 13.1-13.4. They are also set up to run 180ish, so they obviously have good top end (as most porshes do) ....

I don't doubt the kill at all ... I'm sure we're all just a little surprised you pulled him so hard.

How about because I dont know my Porsches all too well?

Why is it all to immpossible? Like I said, the base models are 320hp and 270tq I think? That is unbelievable??

Ahh geeze.. Oh well.. I enjoyed it..

Thanks Rave.. Definitely love them gunmetaled.. In the interest of cost savings I am thinking about powder coating or doing the gunmetal thing with my stock snowflakes..

Here is my car, what think you of something like that with these wheels..
