beat a bike
if the rider blows the launch, it's toast. think about it... how many times have you seen a faster car loose cuz of a ****-poor launch? i blew a launch once at rockingham and turned a 14.2 (had to get out of it twice) but otherwise the car ran 13.1-13.2 all day long. a shortish wheelbase bike like the katana can be quite hard to nail a launch on for most street riders.

....... and besides, who mods a katana anyways? i can see a pipe/jetting and possibly a sprocket, but cams?.....

The guy MODDED the bike, period. People INSIST on putting those stupid exhaust systems on civics .... but as far as your concerned nobody would bother to put a cam in a bike? Either way, I'm not sure if what your view of what mods Should and Should Not be done by people means didily **** in this situation.
an exhaust on a 600 katana is good for what- 6-7 hp (or around 10% for that bike)? as for cams, name one company that makes a performance cam for this bike. i'm pretty sure late model katana owners are stuck with what they have.
Okayyyy .... well, if you meant what you wrote it makes NO sense.
You're saying it is definately not BS (although it is entirely possible?) - which means you believe the LS1 won .... and you believe this because you say a katana can never loose (I assume you mean LOSE).

Sounds good to me.

1. If the story is BS .... the katana really won, and the LS1 lost.
2. If the story is NOT BS ... the katana lost, and the LS1 won.
3. If the katana can never lose ... the katana won, and the LS1 lost.
What you said ...
So while it is entirely possible that (1) the katana won and the ls1 lost ..... it is NOT possible that this was the outcome (2)(therefore the Katana lost and the LS1 won) because (3) the katana won and the ls1 lost.
Also, if something is "entirely possible," how can you possibly say it is definitely "NOT" in the very next sentence? If the story is definitely NOT BS, then it is NOT entirely possible that it is BS …. is it?
Maybe if you sped up a little and made some more sense, THEN we could understand each other. You have a ways to go though, so you better get at it.

edit: fwiw, most of the times that get posted in the glossy motorcycle mags are corrected. rarely do these bikes run as fast or faster. also, i had a conversation with brian catterson (cycle world) at sears point raceway once during an ama event and he said that pretty much all the bikes that the motorcycle press gets are "ringers".

Why mod a Hyundai to over 600HP?
Why mod a Geo Storm to run 11's
I don't have the answer to those questions, and the reasoning is beyond me, but i KNOW that a modded bike againt a 13 second car is going to win. I go with the Katana if it has cams in it.

I know who my money's on.
Having owned 2 katanas, (1 modded), and an LS1, and having raced many cars on my bikes and bikes in my car, I have a very good grasp of how fast katanas are.
They are slow POS's.
LS1 > Katana
END OF STORY

http://dictionary.reference.com/sear...cal%20question
So if there are no cams for katana’s as you are saying, then you are saying the guy lied in his story (where he said the katana had cams). I wouldn't have called BS if he raced a stock katana, but, HE SAID it had cams, sprocket/gear work, and exhaust .... which are some significant mods. So basically you would say he raced a lightly modded / stock bike – won - and then just added some more performance parts into the story so we figured the bike he raced was faster then it actually was?
Sounds good to me.
Sounds good to me.
We can look at this with a scientific T.T. analysis of what you said.
1. If the story is BS .... the katana really won, and the LS1 lost.
2. If the story is NOT BS ... the katana lost, and the LS1 won.
3. If the katana can never lose ... the katana won, and the LS1 lost.
What you said ...
So while it is entirely possible that (1) the katana won and the ls1 lost ..... it is NOT possible that this was the outcome (2)(therefore the Katana lost and the LS1 won) because (3) the katana won and the ls1 lost.

lol... some ppl just can't be helped! if you actually think about it from any perspective other than "how can i prove this person wrong", you may understand it.
how's this-
while it is entirely possible that this story is bs, it's not bs because "the katana can never loose"...

I know this is a great candidate for the BS flag...a 389 (probably 335hp) against a 6-banger Biscayne (about 120 to 130 hp). It was hard to believe, even witnessing it as I did. Maybe a 6 cyl LeMans with GTO markings...don't think so. Maybe a really bad-running GTO with a non-driver?
Different subject (somewhat)---the poor spelling and lack of punctuation probably helped make it a feeding frenzy---but you can't help that,I guess.
BTW...what is your MOS? I was a 32E20 in another Cluster-F place.
