Ouch. . .is there any way a miata can be fast?
I hope so because i sorta lost to one
i pulled up beside one today, idk what he had, nitrous, could be anything, had a loud exhaust atleast, but didn't sound TOO ricey, anyway, i looked at my girl and said "i'm gonna rape this guy" just playing, not even thinking he was gonna race, i wasn't motioning for him to race, if i had been i woulda do it at about a 15mph roll because i have NO bottom end, especially between my cam and no stall converter and 2.73s with 33s, so light turns green, and he pulls a little ahead and i start to hit it a little harder and he's pulling so i ease onto the throttle, and i don't think the secondaries open because they are sticky and often don't open unless i stomp it from near idle, because it felt a LOT slower than normal, but maybe time just slows when racing, i begin pulling a little bit but there's a car in front of me, and by the time i gotta slow down i'm bumper to door (me behind) with him so i slow down (i'm at about 40 in 1st gear still, so i shift the shitty transmission to 2nd and got around the car trying to ease up as not to race just give him a thumbs up to be nice atleast instead he punches it and about a mile later, when he gets on an exit and i'm in the left lane (so i couldn't follow) he throws the flashers on for two blinks, wtf? we hadn't been racing for over a minute, was he scared i was gonna beat his *** or something? either way i'm not making excuses, but just seems a little weird that i beat an R/t dakota one day a lose to a miata the next.
oh, and when i got home the truck didn't want to start at first, and locked sorta every turn or so- which makes me think my timing something got advanced again, which is what it was doing before when it was at 15* at 1500, so i guess i'll retard it again. . . maybe that could explain my poor performace below 3000rpm. . . hmm. . . anyway, any non turbo mods to a miata that can make it fast, do they make a supercharger? because over my exhaust there's no way i could have heard one. . .

i mean it's weird, because it was running reall good earlier, i turned onto the road across two lanes making a left turn and coming out of the turn i stomped it and lost traction for about 5 seconds, given the road was a little wet, but i was doing around 20 when i hit it. . . so with 2.73 and 33s that's somewhat halfwass impressive. . . i guess.

Here in Colorado, near Aurora to be specific there is a Miata with a V8, it has some upper 300's in horses. It sounds like a beast for looking like such a Miata.
Sucks to be killed by it, but in the end he still drives a Miata.

This guy Todd I know has a modded bright red turbo miata. From what I remember, he's pushin out alittle over 230 to the wheels .... however the thing only weighs like 2000-2200lbs if I remember correctly ... so it's pretty quick. Last I heard he was forging the engine and going up in boost, hoping for around 325-350rwhp .... which I would assume would definately put him in the low 11's with the right setup.
They can be quick, I guess.

Tough to lose to a Miata. At least you posted it. I have seen a video of a 10 second Miata. The light weight of those things gives them some potential. You also need to change those gears out. You need at least 4.10's. Get the timing fixed and the carb fixed and you should be able to take him.

Not 100% sure of the specifics (mfg/boost/cost/etc) but it looked factory & dynoed 331 rwhp.
Don't know what that translated into ET-wise or if the motor lasted very long (last I heard it was still running strong),
but that's some serious rwhp for that light of a car.

I am leaning towards the Cobra for many reasons.

already has a forged motor
back seat (for the baby)
relatively easy to mod (going to get a Kenne Bell blower KB = 550 rwhp on pump gas and 600 on 104 octane)
