Default 04 cobras

what does it take to beat these cobras from a roll? Also, where is their sweet spot?

I don't know that there is one. It pulls hard no matter what RPM you're at. They're a bitch to launch and a bitch to shift(2-3), so perhaps you could use that to your advantage if you find a Cobra owner who isn't a great driver.

well first off make sure you have an M6, and keep your 3.42's. Then get a good sized cam, exhaust, and a clutch.

I don't know that would be enough unless you're talking about a stock cobra. A filter and catback goes a long way on them.

Check my sig. I still got pulled pretty damn hard from a 50 punch, but I think the guy started to run out of gear at about 90. After the cobra, I ran a h/c M6 LS1 from the same 50 roll and wound up pulling him without loosing any ground. I guess I need the 300 shot sooner than I thought.

PS - I think I'm in the wrong forum.

Hehe..I noticed that, but no biggie.

IMHO he didn't run out of gear at 90. They pull really hard all the way up. If you noticed something AROUND 80-90mph it was the damn 2-3 shift. 1st will take you to about 47mph, 2nd to a tick under 80mph, 3rd to around 115 or so..etc. I have a feeling he botched (or granny shifted to 3rd). It's a crummy shift, and hard to land properly in these things. I prefer to take it slower to ensure I grab the gear instead of bouncing off it and losing the race. Boost drops immediately when you let off the gas, so I'm willing to bet that's what you saw.

Time to battle power adder vs power adder. Let me know if anybody would like to pay to see this happen! (I need funding)

Since you're looking for equality, does he get to bump his displacement 70 cubic inches too?

I get another cam and 16 more valves then, right?

You mean 3 more cams right?

...and they are NOT hard to launch nor is the 2-3 shift hard.

I thought the Cobra's had a T-56 also. My 2-3 shift is cake.

Yup...T-56's. The gear shift handle is much closer towards the firewall in a Cobra though so it's a little out of reach. But, there's a company (MGW) that has a fix for that. Add their shift handle to a Pro 5.0 and shifting couldn't be easier.

Okay, little but there isn't any race in this thread either.

I saw a '03+ "Cobra" or what looked like one the other day. Your Cobra came with dual exhaust, right unit?

This one had everything looking like one but that. Girl driving and couldn't get her to rev (GF in car) to prove my doubts wrong.

This was originally posted in the Road Racing forum. So I moved it here.

Yes...Cobra come with dual exhaust...exhaust manifolds into a h-pipe then a catback.

D'oh! I didn't notice it was moved.

I guess I saw a clone then, because this one was running a single donkey dick on the left like a V6. I hate that ****. At least do it to a V8.

I dont understand why the new cobras pull equally all the way through the power band. I thought roots superchargers made more power down low

You trying to tell me you think our Cobras are just as easy for the average Joe off the street to launch and shift as any other car? C'mon man. I didn't say impossible. I didn't say a person can't become adept at it, and I didn't say a good driver with lots of experience couldn't do just fine. But to say it's not harder to launch, and that the notchy, clunky 2-3 doesn't take a bit of getting used to just means you must be exceptionally talented. I have a MGW shifter, and the 5 Cobra owners I hang out with regularly echo my feelings about the shifting. I guess we all just happen to suck.

Well obviously it's not exactly equal, but the torque is almost a straight line. It does die off in the upper RMPs, but then you've got the HP taking over. Here's my old dyno sheet. It's blurry and poor quality, but you can at least see the lines. If you look at the entire rpm spread, you'll see that there is either torque or HP pulling around 450 from the time you mash the gas, until you let off.

There is a good chance that I am getting a '04 Torch Red Cobra next week. It will be June before the Kenne Bell blower goes on it though. I can wait for an extra 300 rwhp. I am probably going to get a clutch, injectors, and a shifter when I get the blower. Might as well jump in with both feet.
