LT1 Vs G6 (WTF?) 2005 G6 (~500miles on it) vs
1995 T/A (Bone Stock) 2:73 Auto
Well I sold some parts from the Z to a buddy (tuning cable, software, etc) and he picked them up last night. I took him for a quick drive in the G6 and he loves it. If anyone has driven a G6 they will tell you below 3500rpm the car crawls..but picks up a little steam at that point..(dont get me wrong..its crawlin') It also makes a strange noise up top (You can hear air sucking near redline? cant really explain it) first thing my friend says is "This have a turbo?" Im laughed a lil and said..no.. just a lil 3.5L 200horse v6. (He was thinking 4cylinder turbo..like the old DSM cars) ..anyways we get back and both take off to head home.
We naturally line up at a light and Im like "Damn it..first time hes going to wax my *** in a LOOOOONG time. " [Back when I had my Z, he had a high 13 second 80 something Monte Carlo. Due to a bad KR sensor he beat me.. I never lost to him again after that.

So we wait for the light and both take off.. He spins, I dont...and he is slowly pulling on me until we let off around 60mph. (He had a car length on me)..
I was confused for a moment.. and I remember thinking..wtf is up with his car..then I just chalked it up to the wheelspin..and me getting a better launch.
So a while later while side by side..maybe a 30mph roll I thought I would try something a lil different. Some cars have 'performance' modes in certain gears..Ive tried '3rd' before and didnt see a difference...so I went to 'L' the car downshifted and held 3K on the tach! Sweet!!! I got the jump on him and he went WOT just after I did... to my suprise he stays right next to me.. then let off (35ish to about 60ish again...)
He pulls up and rolls down the window..stupid look on his face like wtf!! So I said.."I just tried 1st gear on the shifter and it fricken pulled like crazy!" Hes just shaking his head at me and smirking.
So we got almost to the gas station (Im nearly on Empty) and went one last time.. 40ish to 80ish... and he couldnt get past me!!!! Towards the 75mph mark he started to creep past slowly and obviously was picking up speed a lot faster than I was... but we let off due to a lane merger ahead.
End results.. I have no idea wtf happened other than he is 2.73 geared and 4L60E. I ran 14.1 @ 97mph with a 2.1 60ft with 3:23s...so he probably has a mid 14 second car..but I think that gearing is just killing him. (or he has 'other' issues..) Lucky for him i just hooked him up with everything he needs to figure it out.
Results not typical I know..but I found it pretty damn amusing... having just passed 500mile recently the engine seems to be waking up 'a little'. Still a mid 15 second car in perfect conditions I believe.. but better than I was thinking before.
Before anyone calls bs.. I have lived and breathed LT/LS Fbodys for the past 4+ years... Im well aware of how far fetched it sounds..LOL Im still a little confused myself.
I think he has some problems with it and its just not enough to throw an SES light.

interesting, even with 2.73s, he should of still pulled on you. The problem could be that the car didn't go down to 1st gear. It probably only stayed in 2nd gear when you are doing the rolling starts. I ran a 13.7 with an h3 programmer with 160 degree stat and just a flowmaster muffler with only 2.73s.

Sadly Im afraid to race most cars.. this thing is too damn slow and I hate losing. LOL His car just ..man I cant even explain it.
I bet he is glad I never ran him in my cam'd 95!!!
Im not really sure what the deal was with his car.. Even from slower rolls my stock Z would downshift from the speeds were going. He should have made enough power to pull me pretty easy even without the downshift. Im going to have him record a session on datamaster and try to get someone to read thru it. (I can figure out what doesnt look right..but Im not an expert)

I would ..but I picked it up ~3 weeks ago and the tracks are all closed until next year 
No one has tested one yet..but I honestly dont think it can do mid 15s without some good air/wind/down hill track..LOL
My friends car just needs some TLC. It was actually a painful moment for me since I am a LT1 banner waiver 4 life (up for review at the moment..lol) .
