Default 5.slow vs LT1

well I got a bet with a friend that a 5.0 with my kind of modding and a lightly modded LT1 would be a good match if 5.0 doesnt take it..


and I'm curious how I stand...


mods are the following...


3.73's
aluminum driveshaft
Edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold slightly ported lower
Edelbrock 65mm TB
Custom Welded fenderwell CAI made by speed shop
removed smog pump
over a 100lbs of weight reduction
BBK shorties
BBK off road H
flowmaster catback
MSD6A box
Blaster Coil
FRPP9 mm wires
March Aluminum underdrives
3G alternator
5spd car
good driving
other misc stuff...


VS.

LT1

free mods
LID
Catback of some sort..
lightly modded..

6spd Camaro or trans am

what is "lightly moded?" Ive beat a 5.0 with a cat back and a 2002, with intake, cat back and nittos. I had intake but everything else was stock and that was before I learned how to really drive my car, but I dunno how well the 5.0 responds to mods.

Whats lightly modded mean. Some people may say full boltons is lightly modded. If you mean, intake, and exhaust i say its a drivers race.

he listed the mods guys i think hes just restating the fact that tehres little done to it

yeah low 200's with not a thing done to it..



its not all about dyno numbers though...


I'm pushing 250rwhp and probably 320tq


but the car without me in it probably weighs around 3000-3050

o i know its not all about the numbers. I was just making sure I had my numbers straight. If you took your car and did similar mods to the lt1 z28/ss of trans I think it would be safe to say the lt1 would win, but the gears will help you out a lot...like stated already, it seems like it would be a drivers race in this situation...got any pics of your car?

drivers race, but i think youve got the edge. if hes got 4.10s and can drive i dont think youll be able to keep up.

Is the 5.0 a trunk or hatch?
My friend has an '89 hatch with long tubes, cobra intake manifold (ported), no mufflers, 3.73 gears and B&M pro shifter. His car weighed in at 3100lbs (verified on a scale). When I just had CAI, LTs and cutout, he would stay with until 3rd and them I'd pull 3 car lengths or so on him. Pretty much a drivers race till 3rd.

Im for the LT1. I used to have a 91 vert. even though the verts are heavier and slower, that car was a monster. I would beat any other 5.0 that came near me. Towards the end before I sold it, it had, Cobra intake, 1.7 rockers, mac longtubes, flowmaster cat back, off road h pipe, deleted smog pump, 65mm TB, MAF,cold air, 3.55's, and a full suspension that launched hard off the line. On motor i would take LT1's off the line and pull through 2nd, then once i hit 3rd it was like my car hit a brick wall and the LT would pass right by me. Now when I was on the bottle, that was a different story, I just went right through the brick wall lol.

Stang 2841- have you dynoed your car??? those numbers seem a little high for no heads or cam.

If the LT-1 hooks you're a gonner... but it wont so u may have a chance. reason y i know a buddy had a 6 speed Lt1 with a exhaust,TB, K&N intake, and he beat a 5.0 with SVO or SVT heads big *** camshaft Tremec, 3.90's and all the bolt ons. LT-1 won by 1 car.... 5.0 was built by Brothers perfomance.

the mustang might get the lt1 off the line but 5ohs are bad about fallin off on tha high side. i know ive had a coupe and a hatch back and for some reason they just didnt pull on the high side like my lt1
