I stop to put gas in my car....a pretty painful experience considering prices these days. A late model Z-28 pulls into the gas station and gives me a rev. Him and his GF go into the store and then come back out. All the way accross the parking lot his GF says, "Is that thing stock?" And I say, "yes." Anyway, He pulls out of the parking lot and I am right behind him. I get near him at the next light and he says he is hesitant to go because he just got a new clutch. And I say what better way to break it in. His GF was totally in agreement. She was ready to rock. So we get out past traffic and I give him the jump from a 50mph roll. And then I hit it. He is pulling and I am going hardly anywhere. I can't believe it. I look down and notice I got the Traction control message......DOOOHHH. I have raced many times where this has happened and I have recovered and still won. But not this time. This dudes car was runnin' strong and I was a sittin' duck. We go again except this time I remember to turn that thing off. I give him the jump again except this time I am a little quicker on the throttle. I pull him and hold him off. A curve was coming and we know that's no fair <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> . Anyway, we pull off and chat. His car had FLP headers with no cats and all of the bolt ons.....6sp. I just had my rear end replaced. I think it needs a little breaking in since I just can't seem to hit the gears quite as quickly as before....I guess they just aren't in the exact spot they were before. Just gotta get'em loosened up. Anyway, this dude's car ran damn strong and he was a really cool guy.

 

What were you driving? I see from your sig that you have a Z06. Were you in that? That would make sense since a LS1 fbody with all the boltons should run with (or past) a Z06. Sounds like you had fun though. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I think it was still readily apparent who had the faster car. His car was faster than I was expecting though. I just blew it on the first run....traction control on the intial punch(2nd gear at 50mph) and again on the 2-3 shift. I would say a bolton F-body is still a solid half second slower than a stock ZO6. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

My mod "horizon" looks like FLP headers with a cam. This should get me in the 410-420rwhp range. Now if we go into fantasy, I would like a Magnacharger on top of that. But that probably won't happen due to funds. I am all about steetability, realiability and driveability. I hope I can achieve any or all of these mods at some point. I might i raced you...i remember this Z06 had a sticker of somesort nn the rear saying "I'm not speeding, i'm flying low."

My ZO6 is black. And no stickers referring to my handle. I do fly and chose that handle before I realized how many other people use the phrase.....and I thought I was all original and stuff. Oh well. Was the one you saw Yellow? If so, probably a buddy of mine. Pretty snappy machine.
