That's the difference between an LS1 and a mach1. An LS1 would run your 11.97 second et at 119.5 mph instead of 113.5 mph. Those #'s should shed some light on the previous posts on what would happen in a highway race between the two.

He's so proud of his 11.97 but your right. The LS1 makes more power and it shows in the trap. Some Machs do run in the 12's and in the 11's like Angus Beef but they achieve this only with very short gearing (to get into the powerband faster since they lack the low-end torque), weight reduction, slicks, all the bolt-ons, and 6800 rpm hole shots. In the end, after all the abuse to the tranny, rearend, and chassis, they still don't make the power of the LS1 and would lose the race on the highway almost everytime.

It's called drag racing. Have your own opinion, but a real race starts from a dig not a roll.

And yes, LS1's usually do pull Mach 1's on the street, been there done that. At the track, both cars mildly modded, I usually have it my way...

DRAG racing starts from a dig not a roll but REAL racing is either from a dig or a roll, it just can't be imaginary, it has to have actually happened

And lets be honest. This whole thread is about CARS not so much drivers correct? Well although you'll always have your diehard drag fans that insist from a dig is the only way to go, in reality roll races are actually a better test of which car is actually faster while races from a dig have more to do with the driver. Frankly I think they should make 1/2 mile tracks to better combine the mix of driver skill & capabilities of the machine

If we had 1/2 mile tracks instead of 1/4 mile tracks, where would all the cocky mach1 guys go to brag about their #'s? It wouldn't be LS1 tech.

why all the bitching? cant people just simply agree that they are both nice cars without flaming the other one. i have driven a ls1 and i own a Mach 1. both amazing cars. i do think the LS1 is more powerful up top. but mach 1's put up a nice run from a dig. i cant sit here and say i hate Ls1 cars bc i dont, but im not saying my car is a god or anything. love them both and would be happy with either. totally different cars and at $4.00+ a gallon i dont think anyone is going anywhere fast anyways

At least that was original. You and the stirmiaster really make a good team. Congrats on the obvious. So when is the wedding? Whose the giver and whose the taker? Stirmiester you seem more like the biatch so you're probably on the receiving end.

KB99WS6- You will probably win if there was a race between us, hell I'm 99% sure you will. Since you are 300+ miles away I will at least whoop the living **** out of you before I return that way we both have something to gain.

I am seriously through chatting with you two ****. IM me for a phone number or address if you're feelin froggy.

god i love this... chevy people typically hate fords, ford people usually dont mind them as much, but the chevy people really like to push their buttons and then 15 pages of post happens, i have a ford mustang cobra and have owned a trans am and firebird formula, i am not biased but will definetely stick up for my car when i need to... and basically i think depending on a cars options and setup mach 1 and ls1 is a heads up race

Very short gearing would be 4.88's.

My car only has 4.30's.

There's quite a bit more I can bolt-on before getting into the engine & doing cams, porting, etc...

Just because you're P.O.S. can't take a hard launch without shattering your stock rear all over the starting line, don't hold it against me that my car CAN take it for hundreds of passes without incident...

... it makes me chuckle BTW when I see an F-Body that's replaced the factory glass GM rear with a 9" Ford set-up that will actually hold-up & not explode when leaving hard on a real tire.
Basically, there's nothing funnier than an LS1 car with 9" of Ford stuck in it's rear that the owner WANTED there...

I could care less if my dyno sheet were bigger than yours or not, or if you could beat me by 1/2 a car from 70 -120 mph.

I'd rather crush you at the track with 100's of witnesses, no chance of a ticket/arrest/car seizure & the pleasure of receiving a time slip record of your defeat...

as far as spanking my car, you should since you have a lot more money parts and time invested, let me do some things to my car and then we'll race, but not from a stop, where you have a huge advantage over most street cars.....i wish you were in st louis so i could show you all of these rad camaros and trans ams that could spank you, show you how slow your mach 1 is
Hay, you're real funny STUPID, but funny.

hot damn this thread has gotten outta control since i started it, 15 pages of bullshit i dont understand why everyone has to be hatin on ls1's when this is a ****** ls1 site not no FORD FORUMS or cobras, let alone the modertor who owns a cobra on ls1tech? even tho he may have 10k post, so dont come to somewhere you dont belong and start up ****. they both are nice cars and agreed it would be a good race. it was a simple question when i asked who would win? then everyone had to start bashing

no offense to anyone
