All you guys keep saying that the cop would not have given him a ticket. Sure he could have. The Viper driver could have said that he was cut off by him and the only way to get out of his way was to swerve, and he ended up in the ditch.

And if you did park your car and walked over, Im sure he could have been pissed. But he should have been pissed off at himself for trying to do something he was familiar with.

Cops give out tickets all the time to things that they dont see. Ever hear of car accidents? The cops barely ever are the witness to a car accident. Its the word of witnesses and tire marks etc that gives the officer proof to give out a ticket(s). The guy in the Viper could have had everything planned out by the time the cops showed up to make himself look innocent and you the culprit as to why he ended up in the ditch.

I probably would have driven off as well. I have gone over a curb or two back in the days, I was fine. Like someone said before, a Viper and Turbo f-body screams road racing all over it.

Was your car even street legal at the time of the accident? Im sure you wouldnt want the cop to look underneath your car and see that there is not catalyctic converter there? If you have one, great.

Theres many things to consider. I think you made the right decision.

Dude, you did the right thing.

In Florida, just ONE racing charge, whether legitimate or NOT, costs you your license for ONE YEAR . . . per charge.

The cop could absolutely LIE about someone racing in their Sports Car and your F'D.

You did the right thing; if he can't drive, not your problem.

By the time I was two blocks up the street, the Viper owner had already turned onto the street that we originally came from and was out of sight. Had he been in any accident danger, I would have turned around but it was clear that all he hurt was his pride and of course his wallet. Both a ticket and a Viper owner with a lawyer crossed my mind, but not enough to abandon him if he was in trouble. I am sure he will create some sort of insurance story that someone forced him off the road; etc.

What you just said is one of the few reaonable things I've read on this thread. You, sir, have just persuaded me what you did was right by the way your thoughts supported your actions and by your interest in checking if help was needed and how you weighed your options... totally different interpretation from your first post. You did nothing wrong, and you have the right attitude. There are some that don't share thoughtful attitudes like this, though. I would have weighed my options exactly as you said in this post for this type of a situation.

An angry Viper owner has deep pockets and a testosterone abundance...there was MUCH room for conflict/legalities had AC stopped, good move.
I hope all the people saying he should have stopped end up in this very situation.

I would have stopped...to point and laugh and make fun of him..perhaps even drive in circles around him while doing so.

There is a 10,000 mile gap between being a good sumaritan and letting some cocky ***** learn a life lesson that money cant buy.

You are not decide what somebody should learn... Should I be allowed to decide what you should learn? The Viper owner taught HIMSELF a lesson, a lesson between man and man-made machine (not other people). Driving by and opining to your own audience or to just yourself, "Damn, that sucks... Well, that's what happens when you drive like an idiot..." is one thing.

Pointing, making fun of, and driving circles?

Wow, man, I hope you are joking... because many premises supporting positive self-regard in this thread concerned themselves with not getting shot or screwed over legally by an angry Viper owner... Quite reasonable, I think... But you'd kind of be defeating the purpose with that strategy... Uh, yeah, if the Viper owner had a gun, he'd probably be shooting the dude driving around in circles and pointing. That's not too smart! You were joking, right? People like this exist? I hope it's just a few...

Read a couple of pages back, sir. I have had these experiences from BOTH sides... Handled VERY differently if I may add. Of course, that's just own experience, not a universally representative sample. I know. That's why I said,

Nope....not joking one damn bit.
Im not deciding what he should learn ,nor did I infer that was my job. He made that choice himself when his ego dictated for him to do something ignorant.

My SS is my second vehicle and literally almost 3 times as powerful as my previous vehicle. I only have 4 years of driving experience and less than one month of owning my SS-yet over only that short time (and really, long before I purchased the car) I have developed a huge respect for that power and have the intelligence not to do something ignorant with something I have no experience with. Does the man not deserve public disdain for doing something so ignorant, not to mention endangering OTHER human lives? Wealth and intelligence all too often fail to go together...the dumb bastard learned a lesson for only the cost of repair instead of his life...he should consider himself lucky.

Or maybe its just my contempt for the wealthy morons.

Okay, I see what you're saying... If you read what I said closely, then you'll see you're agreeing with me (I said he learned a lesson himself, a good lesson at that, and I never asserted anything to the contrary).

When I asked if you were joking, I meant about really driving around in circles, pointing at him, and making fun of him all at the same time, which I imagine would include some horn-honking and high beam-flashing? Are these things you'd really do? I would hope to think those activities were jokes... NOT the efficacy of a good lesson well-learned, of course (I'm with you there).

Contempt for the rich? I hear you... I have contempt for people of poor cultivation, want of courtesy, and of elitist self-concepts... So, yeah, I guess that includes most rich people.

Of course, I remember that Cobra guy, now. Poor car. Dumb driver. I wish he would have donated that car to me instead of wrecking it.

Id be damn tempted to atleast...but again that stems from my contempt for wealthy ignorance.

Not to get off topic, but just watching **** like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famouns on VH1 or 'My Super Sweet 16' on MTV makes me despise America and want to incite a nationwide riot.

So you're both turning left and he's on the outside ( to the right ) of you correct ?
I let him jump me turning left and at the apex of the turn, he lost the rear end into my lane
If he lost the rear end at the apex of the left hand turn, and he's on the outside ( to the right ) of you. How did his rear end swing into your lane ? Simply physics dictate that his rear end swung AWAY from you ?
