I like them better than the SRT-4s, alittle slower at high speeds and alittle quicker to 60mph. I'd like it the other way around to tell the truth, but it still looks much nicer. And I also think it should be an FI 2.4, just a tad more power to put it ahead of the SRT-4 and last gen Mustang GT (which also run 14's, I've seen as low as 14.0 and as high as 14.7 on vert.)

Pretty neat cars. I had and SRT-4, and I would have given it up for the Cobalt SS if it were out at the time.
A guy in the local LS1 club has a GF with one who dyno'd 226FWHP with hers.... 600miles on it. did it in 4th gear so the dyno pull was good. I have never seen so many fbody guys get so excited over so little power before lol.......... pretty awesome dyno day for the club.
I believe chevy went with the 2.0L over the 2.2L ecotect because it was rev happy, made the type of power they were looking for, and the roots type supercharger made up for any loss of low end power.
I can't wait for someone to crack the Ion Redline and the Cobalt SS PCM's so that they can start doing some Whipple swaps.
On L67 powered cars (GTP's, Regal GS, Bonnevilles, etc etc) one study was done showing that just a M90 to Whipple 2300AX, running at the same boost levels, the Whipple made 60fwhp more in certain RPM ranges, and about 30fwhp more through out most of the other power range. It did this while lowering supercharger outlet temps by 100 degrees. That was with a straight swap and no tuning. Pretty amazing eh?
A Cobalt or a Ion redline could greatly benefit from this because the little eatons they are running are just about at the edge of their effeciency, and any more boost starts to bring diminishing returns, less boost per rpm build, more heat.
I wanted to do that swap at one time...... but the cars were still too new and the PCM had not yet been cracked to get rid of things like PCM controlled boost, or even doing any tuning.

well my friend has one.. im really impressed... when i get my 96 LT1 TA tomarro (i hope) then i will have to run him (though i need to break the TA's motor is... only has like 50 miles on it... brand new)...
his car runs perty hard, so it should be fun. hopefully i will kick his *** in the TA... otherwise my purchasde will be a waste to me... lol.. least im getting a 5 year 100,000 mile warrenty on the motor in the car.

I think they are neat cars and realtively very quick. Remember guys that in the 80's this car would hang with or kill many "sports" & "muscle" cars of the time. If I had one of these as a first car i would have thought it was unbeatable, lol.

I'd have to honestly say I'd go with an SRT-4 over the "Noballs" (j/k) . I know its to early to say but it seems that the SRT4 being turbocharged would benefit easier with less mods/money. If they offerd the "Noballs" in a turbocharged version from the factory, Id go after it in a hartbeat over the Dodge skittle. I think chevy was looking for more road course performance.
Why didnt they just put an L67 (GTP s/c V6) in there and have a 12 second skittle? That'd be insane.
***********************OFF TOPIC I read today on yahoo.com that GM is facing HUGE amounts of Debt. Like $250 billion and GM rakes in about $250-300 mill a year or something. They said it was because of the retirees health care and benefits that the workers get. Its really taking a hit on GM financial status.

The cobalt is not simply a rebadged cavalier, its a ground up new design and motor trend actually gave it a stellar review.Given their love of foreign slant thats saying something. The car is pretty cool but the back is a little to "large" for me.I like the looks of the SRT4 better but would buy neither,I want an EVO!
