Default WS6 vs. 03 Cobra

Would you rather own a WS6 for cheaper and mod it up(Say $13000 for car + whatever mods). Or buy a nicely modded(kenne bell, nitrous, exhaust and all the supporting mods) 2003 cobra for much more(Say about $28,000)?

Depends on what "nicely modded" means.

I would probably go with the kenne bell, but a ws6 with 15 grand for mods could be cool too. I guess it would come down to whatever is newer, less miles and better condition. I also think the kenne bell would hold its value a little better if taken care of and done right. I doubt you'll ever get any of the money back that you put into a ws6. Thats how it works with vettes in most cases.

I asked myself that same question for about 6 months. I had my 99 SS H/C full bolt on and paid for but wanted something different. I had the Camaro for 4 years. I R E A L L Y love the Cobra! Its just a totally different car. I reccomend the the Cobra, BUT.......if you have never had an LS1, I feel that is a better place to start for the money. They are bullet proof and not so touchy as with the Cobra. Good luck

The interiors on the cobras has always been a deal braker for me. Im too tall and it feels like im sitting in a hotwheel. So i take the formula i have with an eaton posi, Lighter-stronger k member and a arms, a bigger brake kit, and a well tuned 100 shot. Plenty of kills on the street and ill be hitting up sebring once or twice a year. Schweeat, i cant wait.

2nd, it depends on what YOU want in a car. For me it is a WS6 all the way.

Well.. It is in stret racing because I thought for it to make most sense here.I want to compare the money value, daily driver, and street racing facotr of both cars. All which can be found in this forum. Right now.. I have a 99 WS6 six speed... full bolt ons, SLP headers, y pipe, electric cut out, NX Wet kit with EVERY option. Then I have AFR heads, G5X3, 90/90 combo, spec stage 3, and more awaiting install. I am on the fence about just selling it all and getting an 2003 Cobra. hmmm.. decisions decisions.. Just looking for some guidance from the wise..

get the ws6, forged the bottom end and get a turbo & 12 bolt and your set. you will crush KB cobras. i had 2 h/c set ups on my ws6 and now im going twin turbo. i wish i would have just spent the money in the 1st place on the turbo route and have been done with it. i would have save a TON of money.

Get the aformentioned TT setup. The WS6 birds look better than the Cobra anyways.

Having had a bad A Cobra, I would recommend geting the WS-6 and going turbo on it. I miss the sound of the blower and that crazy flat torque curve but the WS-6 looks meaner and can be made faster for about 20-25 grand total.

Hey Formula, you are in the same boat as I was! Sucks too. There really arent any other awesome cars to choose from. My SS ran mid 11's, cammed really good but was getting up in milage. I wanted a good 10 second daily driver. As well as a newer car. I could have and really added up a forged bottom, and huge NX set up. But I was still driving a 90K car. I just wanted something else to play with. The Cobra pulls as hard with just a pulley and tune and there is Z E R O cam lope which is good on SOME DAYS!! Driving on the highway, its insane. Quiet and tame, but hit it and it will put a smile on even the best LS1 guy! The thing pulls HARD in 3rd and 4th!! Scary hard. Both cars are the best you can get but you will have to pay twice the money for the Cobra, but you would still have to pay $25k for a 2003 WS6 if you could get one. Its a toss up. I miss my SS, but the Cobra feels a bit more refined on a daily basis, except for the rock hard clutch. I am only 5'10'', so consider that. If you are too tall, its tight in the knee department. Good luck, Il answer any questions you have. Stock though, they feel like dogs!! I was used to an 11 sec car. I paid $25k with all the mods already with only 23k miles. Good luck.

Either way, it depends on which you personally like better. Obviously, I prefer the cobra myself, but both are awesome. The cobra is already forged and guys are making over 1000rwhp with the TT setups. Cobra long block is pretty dang stout from the factory and have boost friendly compression.

Given the fact that there are bolton LS1s runnin the same times some KB cobras (11 sec ones) and sprayed LS1s that can stomp run with/beat KB cobras id take the ls1.
I also havwe heard that an LS1 on 9 pounds of boost is at least a 9 sec car, cobras kill for that type of power...bigger is better...no matter what

That is no where near a true statement, don't know where you heard that. But it's way wrong.

9's are not near that easy,no matter what you drive!

Motor for Motor they both rock IMO.

which way would you like to roll,(GM or FORD). that's the only real question.

I really doubt it. It would take a lot of spray to "stomp" a KB cobra and hopefully the motors been built up to handle that much spray. The 9lbs boost comment was really out there. I do agree that bigger is better. My #1 gripe with ford is the small CID. Wish they would build some bigger engines and then supercharge them from the factory. The GT500 is a step in the right direction.
