FYI A4's in the Mach's and A5's in the 05+ gts.

 

hye guys,
met up with the mach today, he has stock gears, shorty headers and the exhaust, he doesnt have the maf... were meeting up tonight, going about 1/4 + another 50 yards.... im not worried all that much, hes a descent driver, but ive seen alot better.... let you guys the outcome tonight

 

and the mustang is an M5....

 

Seeing as he has stock gears & you have 3.73's I'd give the edge to you....

 

so me and the mach meet up at the "local" road. get the light and go, he has me outa the whole,
(1st gear)behing by about 1/4 of a car
(2nd gear) 1/2 way through pulled even and by 3rd i had 1/4
(3rd gear) kept pulling strong to a little more than 1/2 a car
(4th gear) kept pulling shut down at 110ish, he said @ finish his front bumper was even with my rear, which sounded about right... so add another mustang to the kill list....

Did you get the fifty bux? Oh and how does the Mach stand up against a 99,01 Cobra? Im sure it takes it off the line but how about high speed runs? Ive tried to race a few on the highway but they didnt bite

The Mach should have more punch at any speed from what I have seen.

 

Its kinda a shame that everyone knows that a Mach is not just another NA Stang. I think it would have been really funny if nobody knew what they were all about and kept getting surprised by near-stock looking "GTs" LOL.

I still get alot of people that do not know that the Mach's have the 32 valve DOHC. I would say about 1/2 of the people I encounter know what's up though.

 

Most people think the Mach is an aniversary car or something like the BULLIT was. dress up kit with a fake scoop (they assume all scoops are for show now, and really, it is, its far from great, maybe another 5-10 rwhp....)

 

correct me if im wrong, but dont those cobras and mach1s have the exact same engine in them? if not, then what is different about them?

 

they do have the same motor, only diff is mach doesnt have the blower.

 

Mach's are faster. I trap just under 110 with just exhaust mods!

I raced an '01 Cobra at MIR 2 years ago, we were both stock. I went 13.081 @ 108.63 and he went something like 13.3 @ 103.XX. He said it was his best run. It was also my best run at the time. Very close race though.

edit: I'm not sure if they're faster necessarily because they have more power, but the 3.55 gears vs. the 3.27's in the Cobra along with the lighter live axle vs. the Cobra's IRS give the Mach a decent advantage.

 

'99 and '01 Cobra's don't have a blower either...
