Default Bolt on LT1 capabilities??

I had a 94 LT1 Trans Am with K&N FIPK, Flowmaster Catback, and Hurst 6Speed before I bought my LS1. It was quick, but not nearly as fast as my A4 98 TA. I never took it to the track so I don't know what it ran. Anyways, I was talking to a guy who said his Bolt on, AKA everything but a cam (including shorites), ran a 13.0 and then said he had beaten a 12.8 car multiple times on the street. This doesn't sound even close to correct for me. What is the best case ET for a bolt on LT1 with no cam?

manual cars with right gears and tires should do bottom 13's. they will trap upwards of 105mph and thats plenty for a shot at 12's on slicks

Very possible. Full bolt on LT1's can go high 12's with a good 60' and a good driver. As for him beating a car that goes 12.8 in a street race, anything can happen on the street there are tons of variables.

There have been a couple bolt-on LT1's to run low 12's and even one that I've heard go high 11's. The vast majority however are in the mid-low 13's. It's all a matter of the car's setup, track conditions, and driving skill. Most of the very fast ones have major weight reduction.

about beating a 12.8 car on the street.. was it from a roll?

cuz i only managed 13.98 at 100.9 in my Iroc and my friends 83 shortbed chevy truck does 13.6's at 97-98mph. and from a roll, i finally creeped past him after 95mph. dead even the whole time.

a car that has good launch will run good ET's for the trap speeds. but a car that doesnt launch good but has lots of topend power can run slower ET's but trap higher. in a roll race, traps are what counts

Well. This is true. lol... They have full bolt on LT1s in the 11's. But they take a ton of stuff out to get rid of some weight. Everything on those cars are different except the motor. lol.

My friends full bolt on Caprice runs 12.80s weighing in at around 4100lbs with him in it. The bolt on record for B-cars is 12.365 @ 107.21. That was done at Cecil, and IIRC Pat's Caprice weighs 3700lbs without him in it. So A camaro should be able to go faster than that

Off hand, the fastest bolt on LT1 I know of is a guy named "Robbie" with a 95 T/A M6 on camaroz28.com By fast I mean trap speed. He ran a 13.3 @107mph with LT's, 2.5" true duals with an H pipe, CAI, and electric water pump. He also put down 307rwhp with these mods.
