Today I was in my GTO going downtown and a Mach 1 came up trying to race me. First, background on the GTO; 2004 LS1 magnacharged 414rwhp-434ftlbs. We went stoplight to stoplight and the cars were even (1 block). I want to run him full out because this guy was starting to talk smack. Long story short we did end getting on it, he wouldn't stop and line it up but always punched when I rolled next to him, so I ended up going with it as he got the jump, but I realed his *** in to pull slightly ahead before shut down. He would never slow to a stop, but during the ensuing chase to try to run the race heads up I noticed this badge that said 429 cobra 32v dohc plate along with some other badging, he said he was built. Was this a special mach 1 or limited edition or what? Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.......

I used to work for ford in 04/05 and I NEVER HEARD of any "special" mach's other than the Auto which featured a cast instead of forged crank and a little less hp...

There are no 429 cobra Jet Mach1's in the 03-04 models... I have seen a few people put the Cobra Jet badges on the shaker scoop but thats about it..

Ya, thats what I thought he would really never race me from a heads up, he just wanted to talk a lot of ****, and thats too bad because I respect mach 1 and their drivers along with 03-04 cobras. Keep up the good racing and thanks for the responses.

not as bad as Mustang owners putting GT-R badges on their cars AHAH. pathectic. a yellow stang GT here 03-04 with the advance auto GT-r badge all over it.

The magnuson ( magnachrgers arent known for high rwhp numbers. But they put out more power under the curve..

But 419 rwhp is the lowest Ive ever read of...Could be an A4 2004 GTO that was dynoing 280 rwhp bone stock and then only has a 6.5 pound pully.

But that mach was pretty fast to hang with the blown Goat. So the badge could mean it actually has a little somthin somthin.

There was a very unique, highly secretive special service mach 1 that only a few police departments got. Word is, they have bored/stroked 429s displacing 514ci with Brodix heads, custom special service intake and a custom special service cam. I have heard differing stories, but most agree they are making 600rwhp stock. With a K&N, they gain 30 more to the wheels. Obviously they are police interceptors, DUH!

There was one in San diego I used to see all the time.
Again, not a special Mach but I did hear that the cobra jet emblem gives you like 30-40 hp.
