Default Small run with a Supra TT

Well, I said I would stop street racing and I would go to the track from now on, but I had an opportunity that I just couldn't resist. Tonight on the way home from work, I spotted a really beautiful Supra (newest model), silver in color, on the road drivng rather aggressively and fast. I drove next to it and saw and heard that it was a TT. The turbos sounded SICK, I mean SICK!! IDK if this guy had upgraded the turbos or anything but the only other thing I could tell was that it had exhaust and most likely a waste gate (I heard the turbos "pshhhh" lol so I assume this is the wastegate). I drove even with him and beeped to let him know I wanted to run him, he looking over at me and I then got behind him and followed him onto the main state road, got up to about a steady 50mph, then lined up with him. I beeped three times and we went from the roll. I heard those TTs spool up and boy did they sound awesome... he immediatley started pulling on me. I was about a foot away from his rear bumper when I started to gradually slow his pull and at around 85 it seemed like I had stopped his pull.... but, he shut down at 90 so I dont know what would have happened after that. That car had power though. Probably more than my LS1. My first time vs. a Supra and let me tell you, I certainly have respect for those cars .! I had no idea one of those could pull harder than an LS1!

Yep, some of them are nothing to mess with (if done properly of course) easy hp too. Those guys either go big or, not at all.

SupraSonic, I bet i could take your car on some good slicks! (I guess after the 60' you would probably "reel me in" "pretty fast" though ) SICK CAR!!!!! What do stock (okay okay, as stock as POSSIBLE) MKIV TT M6 Supras with less than 70K miles sell for?

Thanks for the compliment. As for m6 Supras under 70k miles, they still are going for around 30g's or more (very rare). So what a lot of people do, is they can pick up an auto from between 15-19g's and slap in a TH400, since a good handful of them like to build them for the quarter. For me, I prefer the M6. I may not be as fast as the guys in the quarter with the TH400's but I enjoy going through the gears none the less.

Couldn't have had much done to it if your car is stock. Maybe just an exhaust? MKIV's run low 13's just like F-bods. Supra's are beautiful, I wish I would have bought one now...

Good death, dude. It's cool that you gave it a shot.

I'd love to have a Supra. I have loads of respect for genuinely fast, tastefully done imports. What a shame 99.99999% of them aren't.

I think you would have taken that Supra if your LS1 was a 6-speed

I raced one when I was stock and beat him. It was dark blue on westheimer. It was turbo but he said his 3rd gear was shot so he had to go from second to fourth i dont know But I beat him by about a car length. But I have always enjoyed the body style of those cars they look pretty cool with that big wing and all. It doesnt look tacky like those other riced out cars.

Supra's from my understanding, most of the time, with some exception don't usually run low 13's stock. My guess is he had very very minor boltons to pull you.. or maybe he had several mods but couldn't drive for crap.

Sounds like a good race.

Peace,
Josh

I raced one a while back when I just had bolt ons on my Z. I ended up winning, but it was a close race. In my book there are two cars I am very reluctent to race one is a Buick Grand National and the second is a TT Supra. Both of those cars can be anywhere from 8 secs to 14 secs depending on the work done to them. You just never know with Turbo!!
