ok me and a buddy are going to race, he thinks he can beat me but i dont think so. here is the mods each car has

94z- no cats, k&n intake, metal intake elbow, 160thermo and 373s and a hypertech programmer

00SS- slp lid, smooth bellow, free mods, p&p throttle body,cutout.

both automatics,
so who thinks who will win?

My vote goes to the SS. I know my 95 LT1 (stock A4 2.73's) was no match for the lightly modded LS1 A4 that I ran once.

No way can that LT1 take it unless you just blow the race off the line.

I have a LT1 A4 myself w/ headers, custom tune, etc and I'd be surprised if I could match a bolt on LS1. No way does he come close w/ crappy stock manifolds and a hypercrap tune... His 3.73s will likely just increase his traction problems unless he's running DRs or something...

Even if he does dust you off the line by a couple cars I see you walking past him pretty quickly.

I kinda raced a 99 LS1 Stock. He didnt floor it until I had half a car jump, so I dont really consider it a race.

Anyways We both have 2.73 A4's, but i have a Moroso CAI, 52 MM Holley, and SLP LM with 160 Stat and basic tune. (!topspeedlim, !skipsift )

I beat him by about 1, maybe 2 cars from 50-110 mph.

I hit real good though. But he couldnt catch me.

But youre talking an SS, and I doubt they put 2.73's in them.
I hate to say this, but the 3.73's and K&N are the only thing the LT's got giin for it.

I think it will be close, but that SS has a .3-.4 faster ET IMO

well, I did beat my roomie in his 00' SS when my car was mostly stock (stall, 3.42 gears), that was because he fell asleep on the line. Race him and find out.

it wont even be close...he doesnt even have any good power mods. and 3.73 gears...big deal...you have 3.23...not much of an advantage.
And you have an ls1 with a couple mods as well....is everyone on crack or what?

His only advantage on you is gears...so it wont be QUITE this bad...but I think it will be compareable.

The LT1 will most likely take the LS1 from a dig if he had DR's and gets traction. The LS1 will then start to pull right away and keep going...I say the LS1 takes it after 40 MPH. (Assuming the LT1 gets traction)

If they go from any kind of a roll, the LS1 will pull right away. The LT1 has no power mods except for an intake, which won't help until about 100MPH when the LS1 will be about 4 cars ahead...This is basically a stock LS1 Vs a stock LT1 thread.

I mean seriously, 250Rwhp Vs 300+Rwhp.

I had a 94 LT1 with shorties, CAI, catback, and 3.73's. I raced a friends completely stock 99 Z28 and we were dead even up to 110 from a dig. It will be a close race.
