Should this have happened?
Witnessed probably a 94-99 Mitsubishi 3000GT vr4 with headers/exhaust/cai/ and boost controller running 14 psi beat down a 98-02 ss LS1 camaro w/ atleast exhaust from a dig. That part I understand. Then they raced from about a 40 roll and the vr4 was still pulling on him, I thought the AWD would screw the 3000GT from a roll.
Both cars were manuals by the way. I stopped and talked to the guy in the Vr4, but the guy in the ls1 drove off.

vr4 with bolt-ons will walk a stock to near stock ls1 pretty easily. here is a site where they have staged upgrades and the first stage is for "pesky Ls1's" http://www.dynamicracing.com/customer/home.php?cat=49,
this is matt monets site, he holds the record for the fastest full interior,no nitrous vr4 in the united states with a 10.696@133.456

The awd does hurt alittle from a roll but Turbos make most of there power in the higher RPM so it kinda equals it up a bit and I believe the VR4 is a 6spd so it has the gears for a roll... I could be wrong I kinda pulled that outta my *** but it sounded good in my head

Yeah, that seems about right with equal drivers. Anything can happen on the street though, with all the variables. I checked out that sight and got a good laugh at each stage being aimed at a different STOCK car. Too bad there aren't that many stock LSx cars out there, at least none that I have run into. I know mine isn't

the 6 speed depends on the year, the ealier modles 90-95 were all 5 speeds and 300 at the crank., the 96-99 were 6 speeds and were rated at 320 at the crank

Man, never underestimate the power of a 3000 GT VR4! The sons-a-bitches are bad right out of the box...and with a little wrench work....the f*ckers are quick! You better have some mods and you better have you ***** tucked in just right when you try to race one. Some times they will stun you.

They can go. I raced one from a dig that all modded to hell and doing a 5K launch. I barely got him by a car at the 1320 in the Cobra. It was the first time I'd seen him race in over a year cause he's on his 4th tranny. Fast butt car for sure.
