I saw him on the interstate on the way home, he got off at the same exit as I did. I could tell he would race because how fast he was driving. So I got on his ***. I pulled up beside him, and at about 55 he dumps the clutch and barks em. I was like oh ****.. I punched it alittle after he did, but when he shifted into the next gear, I left him. Again, he came back for some more. And the same exact thing happened. We pulled over after racing to talk, and he said he's just had it for a few weeks, and he hadn't got used to the clutch yet; he wasn't trying to prove that he could have beat me because he said I could probably take him if he could drive it. Well, he really couldn't drive it; when he tried to take off after talking, he stalled it. Me and my g/f just laughed, but he looked to be kind of a heavy set guy, so I could see how it would be difficult to drive a RX-8.

I've never actually driven an RX-8, but supposedly they're like a somewhat higher-level Miata... not much relative power, but a great torque curve (not the same as having A LOT of torque, but is fantastic for driveability), pretty light, and can handle like crazy. That means they get beat on pretty badly at the drag strip, I'd imagine, but they're probably horribly fun to throw around.

I really started liking the RX-8 when I got to poke around one in person... it's a SMALL car, but somehow they managed to cram in a respectable back seat and the BIGGEST TRUNK I'VE EVER SEEN.

Too bad none of those good things make it any faster in a straight line... but nice kill anyway!

I heard about one that hit 12.8 on juice, and thats it.

I would love to see an LSX in one. The rotarys tend to have high transmission tunnels due to the central shaft that is their equivalent toa crank shaft. It sits high in a rotary. So you get great room for a T56 or TH400 or whatever.

The only thing I can see being a problem is the narrow nature of the engine bay. When you have no valve train, you can playa bit with the engine bay dimensions I guess LOL.

Whats the deal with people thinking EVO's are slow? Maybe its just my area but there are plenty of 350-400 awhp ones in my area that can certainly beat bolt on ls1's...

Nice kill reguardless of what it was. I agree there are a few fast Evo around the area, i did some work on one over the winter that made 519AWHP. I'll try and get him to go to the Reckless meet.

I actually think it might be this kids dad who my buddy knows. He went to the kids house and the kids has a turboed rsx and he said his father came out and showed him his modded 500+ awhp evo. They said it was fast as ****. Any idea where the 519 awhp evo you worked on was from and was it a middle aged guy?
