On a non-forged stock sti block there is no way he can push 400 awhp with an upgraded turbo then spary a 100 shot on top of it, at least I havent seen or heard of anyone being able to push the stock block/stock internals that far. Gotta be a built engine with a nasty fuel system (maybe stand alone), plus some killer tuning.
Heres one

Heres another (a buddy of mine 592whp on the stock bottom end) Been through many turbos and its still going

Damn I stand corrected, those are some sick cars, and I didnt mean it was impossible, just hadnt heard of a stock shortblock sti pushing those numbers. Thats nuts though considering its not a forged shortblock like the evo. There are a couple good-sized turboed STI's are my area that I hang with and they are pushing about 400-420 awhp, but most wont go past that point for engine longevity reasons. Haha I am def not showing them those links though as they are fast enough as it is now!

staringback.....I didnt read the whole thread, but the whole point about the Evo, is its cheaper to make faster. Personally I have raced a few STi's in my Evo and have beat them from a roll or dig. your buddy sounds like he has a nice setup though, definitely enough to beat a stock or lightly modded Cobra.

i know one thing i really liked about his car was how he could control the traction between the two axles, and how it honestly did make a difference when we were just goofin around. i dont know what his 1/4 times are because we dont hang out that much, but judging by speed in those links above his is very compariable to those

If he got the kit from the dealership to fix the overrating then he might be making 320bhp. Either way, you'll kill him stock vs. stock. Oh yeah, and read the stickies next time!

that sti with just a 100 shot would have waxed that cobra anyways.

isnt that sti rated at 300 hp? add a 100 shot...you get 400 horsepower.

it is a far lighter car...and would have just as much horsepower on the juice than that cobra if it was stock. not to mention the awd launch.

he would have put a few lengths on him stock with a 100 shot, from a stoplight.

When I was cam only I raced an sti with a 75 shot, cold air kit, and exhaust. I raced him from a high speed roll...which was a big disadvantage to him with the awd...but I only got him by a couple cars at 130 or so.

besides the car i started this thread about, i worked with another guy who had a silver sti, he admitted that thered be no way really to keep up with a car like mine from like 40 mph and up (rolling start), the guy this threads about admitted it to. but from a dead start its different our cars cant make up that time lost at start to a awd car with that much power, and yea base sti is 300hp, but he had a bigger turbo and then a 100 shot, thats why i said the cobra lost so bad and it was a 04 or 03.
