Default Quick kill on a SRT4 and a turbo integra

Driving home in the 45 zone and a turbo integra starting revving at me and then an SRT4 came up behind us too. We all got side by side in the 3 lanes and the other 2 cars starting showing of the BOV's so i gave them a purge.

Then the srt downshifted and were off for a short sprint. I pulled immediatly and continued to for a few seconds then let off. At the light the SRT4 owner says hes got boltons and runs 20PSI on the stock turbo. Anyway thats the most racing Ive actually gotten lately, Ill take what i can get.

How much boost do the SRT4's make stock anyway?? BTW, i think that was the same SRT4 that caught me sleepin a few weeks ago and put a quick car on me. I got my revenge, lol.

AFAIK about 14PSI stock. They actually run a compressor wheel similar to a Mitsubishi 16G, but smaller, like TDO4 size.

In otherwords a efficient but small turbo. On a 2.4L gulping air pretty fast to the average 2L, that turbo is probably about as high as it can go in terms of boost.

Ncie kill. You probably did not even spray....

my buddy has a 05 Srt-4 and is peaking at 21/22psi on the stock turbo. not much u have to do to get that either. i sell them at my dealership and it takes a stage 1 pcm and a stage 2 wga and youll have 21 psi.

21 psi not bad! How much boost can the stock bottom end take before it blows?

+1. 22 psi is the highest I've seen on stock turbo.

yea right around that. i have heard on the srt forums that one guy had 24psi on his stock turbo/stock bottom, but dont know how long it lasted. he has a 50trim turbo on now with like 28psi. the motors were built pretty nicely. my boy isnt scared to run WOT with 22psi all day long so it can handle it.

Just because someone is generating 22psi doesn't mean his motor can do anything with it - at some point high boost is just a measure of restriction at some point in the system.

Thank you.

People have run 18psi and more on the stock crap 14B turbos on DSMs. Doesnt mean they are very fast. A 50trim at 28PSI on a 2.4 is really pushing it but flowing a lot of air. The stocker at 24PSI is probably not much if at all faster than at 20 or so IMHO. You get way out of the efficency range and start loosing charge density to heat really quick.

The stock turbo drops off in efficiency after 19psi, and is pretty much gone at 22. You also need fuel and other mods to run that much boost and take advantage of it. Otherwise the car will pull timing on you and be slow as dirt. The guages break all the time so people think they are running more boost than they are. Mine reads about 1.5 psi high. A nitrous'd LS1 shouldn't have any trouble with a stock turbo SRT-4 of any kind.
