WS6 learned not to pick on little brother. about 20 min ago a white sharp looking ws6 was beside me. and came form behind and was revving on me so i figured this would be a cool race.
as we are coming to a red light he is about a car ahead of me. and i know its fixing to turn green before either of us get their. i hear him downshift it. and light turned green. when me having probly about 1-2 mph more momentum than him. so i punch it and the car downs form 3 to 2nd this was at about 15 mph.
i hooked up pretty good and i quickly gain ahead of him. and when he shifted to 2nd gear i got another half a car on him. by 60ish he front bumper was at me rear portio of my door. and we pretty much stayed their till we hit traffic. wasnt totatlly fair but hey im an auto vert. he was a 6 speed ws6. so i think 1-2 mph differenc ein momentum is fair not to mention he starte d a car ahead.

Sounds like an even race to me.

An uto will not drop to first once it went out of it. Only at about 30mph will it drop. 25mph or under will be second, and a very slow acceleration considering your at the bottom of the gear.

What??? Not quite. When going WOT, an a4 will downshift to first gear regardless of what gear the car was in when the pedal was smashed, as long as your speed is under the factory kickdown mph (which is different for 2.73 & 3.23 gears). IIRC, 3.23 geared cars will kickdown to 1st up until ~32mph. Anything over that and you'll get 2nd gear.

i agree my friend has a ws6 and we were in it the other nite doint 40 it kicked to first (mind you its tuned) but still i have been in many autos and when in the proper kick down mph it will absolutely drop to 1st.....and SCREAM

40mph and below here my A4 kicks down to 1st i'm tuned though. One hell of a kick in the *** with the 3500 stall too 
. Although i have had some weird **** happen in the TA and my GTP (tuned also) like the tranny doesn't know what the hell to do and it has messed up and only downshifted to 2nd before at a low speed.

well mine used to do that when i had 2.73s any thing 40 and under its 1st gear and you get a good kick in the pants...now i have to be at like 22 with my 3.73 but i still love them
