Default pullied 04 cobra vs cammed 02 z28

This was my first run with the new cam in so I was excited as hell . So I pulled up to a light and see a bright red cobra up in front and decided to wait on the chick-fil-a to get a good run in. Funny thing was when the light turned green he waited for me to come up so I guess he saw me back there behind him. So as soon as I get close the dude takes off before I can even get up next to him....ok . Finally we stop at a light and I say on green and he says no that it will spin too bad. Well I have street tire too so we decided to go from 30(which wasnt much better).

FIRST RUN: We line up at 30 and on the 3rd honk we're gone. Spun a through first, but so did he as I shift to second I notice Im starting to slowly pull ahead. We shut down at 110 with me 1 car ahead . We stop at the next light and I ask if it was pullied and of course it was(cant really find any that aren't now days)and he had exhaust and intake. He asked if mine was cammed (as if he couldnt hear it lope) and I said yeah. He tells me his buddy can't drive for shat and that he has an all wheel drive car. Apparently he wasn't shifting right and that's why I got him. So they switch and now the owner is driving.

SECOND RUN: We line up at 30 again and I honk it off. We take off at the same time he pulled about half a car, but when he shifted to 2nd I pulled right back up to him and stayed right there side by side till 130. Next light we stopped at he said damn that was a dead even run! I asked what he dynoed (now this is where I get skeptical) and he told me 490rwhp . From those races I know he is NOT putting down 490rwhp. I got 390 maybe a little more, but either way Im getting beat down if he has 490rwhp. I was guessing anywhere from 430-450 is more like it. We ran a couple more rolls with him pulling a little or me pulling a little, but mostly even. I gave them a thumbs up and they did the same.
This was my first race here in New Jersey and my first race with the new cam. I was very satisfied.

Good **** bro, way to show those ford boys how it's done. Down "100hp" and still running the same level of performance

Good kill but all these 500rwhp Cobras are more like 430-450 and obviously the results prove that. Good kill though. My Cobra ran only 1 length behind my H/C bolt on SS through 4th gear with only pulley, tune, exhaust and CAI. How do so many retards buy cars nowadays. Bet it felt good to beat him though.

I agree. It's all in the setup really. I can make a 660rwhp dyno run once
and claim that it makes 660rwhp, but it definitely won't run that consistently.
My car makes 600rwhp no matter how many consistent pulls are done.
However, back when I had a ported Eaton, it made 500rwhp. I didn't have
a heat exchanger or any other cooling mods. The heat soak was terrible
and IAT2's were through the roof, which pulled timing and killed power.
So, I was probably only making 450rwhp vs. the 500rwhp. I would imagine
that happens frequently when all these 500rwhp Cobras are getting stomped
on by 400rwhp cars. A 400rwhp LS1 is a good match for a 450rwhp Cobra
so I definitely believe the kill.

Good kill on the Cobra. No car is unbeatable. You'll hear no dispute
from me.

Nice kill man, gotta figure in the weight too as he had an extra person and as both UNIT and Jay said they were probably in the low to mid 400's for rwhp, good kill either way though and you must be loving that new cam huh?

Yep, ya gotta love heat soak if you're driving an N/A car. Nothing slower than a Cobra in limp mode.

This Cobra you ran is owned by one of my best friends, Ive been looking for this thread after I heard about the run. The first driver of the race owns a low 12 second wrx, they weren't BSing you about him not being comfortable with the car.

The car is an Anniversary 03 and it DID make 493rwhp STD corrected (SAE of course reads lower) @ JLP Performance who does his work. It has a CAI, ported tb, X pipe, custom dumped exhaust, 2.8 pulley, tune and solid rear 8.8" setup with 3.55s. Usually when we go out to a car scene and somebody calls him out, I drive .

I ran him twice also from a roll in my cam only FAST90/90 car before I pulled the engine out this last May.

Hey Cobra,
What is up with your car. I have a black 2003 with pulleys, ported Eaton, Anderson PMS. Still with the IRS which makes my car about 100lbs heavier than yours and the best I have done in the Quarter is 11.17 @ 129. Oh, I also have 4:10's which makes a big difference in 60 ft. times. My best with that big heavy load is 1:53 60 ft.I think that wil beat most street driven, cammed LS1's. Have always raced on the track. That is a true test where no one but driver ability gives you the edge. tHE lS1'S RESPOND REALLY WELL TO CAM, GEARS, AND A LITTLE JUICE. THEY CAN REALLY RUN.

good kill man. those pullied cobras are nothin to mess with; but a lot of the time can be very overrated. he probably just had the pulley, intake, and exhaust, and the stock heat exchanger, which would be holding him back some. the thing i love about the LS1 is that it doesn't need a blower to really make some serious numbers. a cammed LSx engine is nothing to **** with. GOOD KILL.

You say "pulleys", meaning you have an aftermarket lower also? The lower + ported Eaton makes HUGE difference over say my friends upper pullied only Cobra who still traps 122ish.

nice run..and to think there was a guy on here telling me that a cammed LS1 can barely beat a stock or lightly modded 03 cobra

490+rwhp isn't happening with an Eaton unless it's ported or sprayed...plain
and simple. This "500rwhp" Cobra is most likely just as I described above
considering the Eaton isn't ported.

Ive seen the graph from JLP, again its STD corrected and was a cool day as it was in the Fall of last year. Perhaps he even lied to me about his mods but I figured ~470rwhp SAE is about right for his mods.
