man I'm a *****
Cars involved-
--Stock '04 cobra
---'98 automatic with stock converter, 3.73 gear, PP LS6 Stg II heads, TSP 231/237 cam, Kooks 1-7/8ths, true duals, LS6 intake, reasonable street tune.
hah...
I had just gotten done picking up a clay bar from autozone and was heading down a 45 mph 4 lane when a chameleon colored '04 Cobra pulls out to my right. My adrenaline starts flowing an I get that 'about to fight' twitch...
The road is reasonably clear in front of us and we slow to about 35. Anybody with an automatic knows this is the absolute worst roll race in a F-body. I figure that being on street tires this would be smart.
I wack the throttle first (cause at this RPM I ******' need it) and dude (Jerry as he later became known) hits it almost simultaneously. Instantly he puts a fender on me. As I come up in rpm I start to pull and end up with about a car on him by the top of second (75?).
I have to brake hard because grandma in front of me isn't scared of being goobled up by a catfish. I wave the Cobra over into a gas station and we bullshit for a bit. He says he his car is bone stock and it seems legit. I tell him what I have done and he says it was a drivers race and his car should be faster. He was a pretty cool guy, just mildly misinformed.
I didn't really feel like getting into it with him so I kindly said that was a matter of opinion. Dummy me thinking I had already made it clear who had the faster car. Jerry insists we go out to a longer, lonelier road and find out. I kindly decline - after all it's noon and we are in the city of Rochester... how lonley can it be? He is persistant though, and keeps prodding. 'Just saying no' was harder than drinking a bottle of tequila and refusing sex.
Eventually he gave up and we left.... along the same road. He's tauting me big time now - winding up that blower pretty tight and barking the tires at me. Dammit, I gave in at a speed I knew I would lose at and only stayed in it for a couple sorry seconds. I'm sure he thinks he would have owned me but I know the truth.
...and now so do you guys (if you're still reading)
now before you go chastising me for running stock stall and no drag radials, know that I have a set of MT DR's and a 4000 stall in the garage waiting for my move into my new house....another good reason why a street racing ticket should be avoided.
hope you enjoyed it, Nick

I dont think it would have been a slaughter, although I like the word choice. I'm not that big of street racing fan - just too much to lose right now. I tried to talk him into coming to the track with me, but he declined...sounds like a busy guy.

That 4000 stall converter is going to make your car feel like a dog around town.
Unless you have it floored all the time it's going to constantly be slipping and it's going to feel slower driving around like normal. Your sig says it's a daily driver so I thought you might want to know. I've ridden in a 4000 stalled car, the around town putt-putting was really screwed up.
Less fuel economy, higher tranny temp because of the constant slipping at part throttle, and it will be slower unless you nail it....
You should sell that 4000 stall and get a 2800.
Anyways, nice kill! ~Joshua

I appreciate the suggestion, I don't do a whole lot of driving to begin with. I have a fear that what you're saying is spot on, but since I already have the converter I think Im just going to try it and see how it goes. I'll be tuning for part throttle lockup to try to avoid the constant slip.
the rest of you guys I'm afraid are terminal
go wash your hands
