Default Raced a C5 Vert last night

Car: 2004 SRT-4, stage 1, wastegate (18psi - 15psi redline), intercooler pipes, hks ssqv bov, walboro 255 fuel pump, etc.. stock turbo

I never get a good oppurtunity to get a vetter owner on a 'good' day. Last night was one of those rare oppurtunities. I was driving all the way from Wilmington DE to the Springfield VA area last night and only had some idiot in a lincoln LS try to run me when I was just south of Baltimore. I never drive far anymore and was kinda itching for some 'fun' so far I was dissapointed.

Fast Forward to 95south in VA. I was coming from the innerloop on 495 to 95 south and there was a red C5 vert coming up on my right side fast, I jumped in behind him and, as Dane cooke would say, "It's on"

He floored it and I followed suit to xxxmph and I end up passing him. We slowed for traffic and got another hole and he did it again with the same results, me passing him. I think that he was a little surprised to see a neon pass him though

and no, it wasn't a 'ricer flyby' I was on his *** until I was going faster and had to pass him. We would stop each time I did though.

Good kill, obviously we're talking about an SRT-4 right? Instead of stupid websites, it would have been nice to use the signature area to give at least a remote hint of your vehicle manufacturer/model for other users here.

Just messing with you, man. So, you have some mods I presume. What flavor's your skittle?

about 280ish right now, I'm WAY untuned, running really rich, and need to get an exhaust (stock turbo, stock exhaust... ****, stock clutch for that matter) so I can finish the 'stage one' of the build that I'm in. 'stage two' for me will be the bigger turbo, looking for around 375-400whp. Right now it's running really well when completely in the power band. Another thing is, that we started with me in 4th gear.. we started around 70mph.. I could have downshifted to THIRD and it would have been even worse. lol

Well, since it was an automatic and we raced three times.. I doubt it. I know that my car isn't ridiculously fast, but it's obviously faster than a stock C5 vert. lol. As for what power I'm putting down, it's all a guess. I'm only guessing 280whp. I raced my bestfriend's SRT-8 300C and we hold dead even until well over 100mph. So the car's not slow. (that is, until he hits his 150shot lol)

Interesting, a 300c srt-8 is only a low 13 second car, tops, an odd one will run high 12s. Is the 300c stock?

ohh i wasnt implying your car is slow man...but im just saying vettes shine on the big end and a 70mph roll with a vette is right up its alley....being and auto on a roll race and being a lil heavier being a vert evens the playing field enough...thats just crazy pulling on a vette from a high roll woth your mods!!!
like i said no matter what good kill...slap a bigger turbo and some spray on that thing

Actually dude....last thing in life that I want to do is defend a neon but....i've raced a few...and they would have all walked a stock vette like nothing. Regardless of driver. Unless ofcourse the you do the pit manuver.....which is what i'll do if a neon passes me.

I've raced and beat a 376whp(black), 411whp(sunsetorange), and 481whp(same car on high boost and fuel) neons.

lol..ok look at the numbers on the ones you have raced,....they are nowhere near stock..they would have no problem walking a stock c5...im not saying they arent fast...but they are stock high 13-low 14 sec cars..thats almost a second off a vettes ET and not to mention the aerodynamics and the top end a vette has....and i made many of them look stupid when i had exhaust and lid....

The 300 SRT8 has exhaust cutouts and 150 nx wet kit. It's a low 13, high 12 second car. But it's also a 378whp car in stock form, my car isn't lol. I've only done about $1200 in mods, but I guess you could say they were the 'right' ones to do. There's a few more things that I've done to the car, but I don't feel like typing them all out. Once the bigger turbo goes on (if it goes on.. I really want that challenger when it comes out and the neon would go bye-bye) I hope to be at around 400-450whp on the top end.. any more than that and I'd have to have a tire sponsor.

and yea, a 70mph roll is a good spot for the vette, but I was already spooled and ready to roll, pushing 18psi the whole time (car doesn't drop boost in between shifts)

my above comment was dircted at V-series
and i can easily seing one with your mods pullin on a stock c5...but i was just going by your horsepower numbers....but like i said earlier...it was a stock auto vert which is obviously more than enough to level the playing field...GOOOD KILL

280whp neon..what..2800lbs?

308rwhp vette....vert..what..3300lbs?

Do the math.

At 130plus mph...i'd rather be in the vette......

No doubt, this car is unsafe as hell, has a NEGATIVE side impact rating

The vette deffinately has an advantage in handling and aerodynamics, etc.. But I was more or less really happy to get someone to run me in one finally.. usually, they're in the right lane. Dude was really cool once I think he got over the 'facts' lol. Gave me the thumbs up and we went on our seperate ways.

One of the cars Im considering replacing this with is an FRC btw.

thats what im saying...they started from a high roll...i would assume they went pretty high up since they started so high...from a low roll i would never have said anything cuz i agree with what youre saying...but if you start at 70 usually your gonna reash pretty high speeds...
