Default Cammed LS1 SS vs Cammed LS1 C5

ran a cammed '99 Camaro LS1 6spd w/full exhuast, CAI, Tune and TSP Torquer 2 cam (232/234 .595/.598 112 LSA). my mods: '02 C5 6spd LS1 w/full exhaust, CAI, patriot cam (226/226 .585/.585 112LSA), and Tune. we ran from a 60 hit and i pulled 1.5 cars on him by 80mph.
I had a scare though, because as i was about to go into 3rd and add more carlengths, at about 80-85, i accidentally missed 3rd (i didn't have the clutch in all the way) and in the same second I accidentally hit the brake and the gas at the same time. The steering wheel began to wobble violently and the rear tried to violently slip out... thank goodness i had the active handling on or i would have pulled a dale earndtheart on the highway......that scared the living shyt out of me....

Damn man, take it easy. A little more practice and you'll be good to go.

its not my first car..... i think the problem was that i had my seat positioned too far back, which in turn didn't allow me to press the clutch in all the way... i've moved my seat forward and im experiencing this problem anymore...

i was 1.5 cars ahead of him when i missed a gear and then shutdown at 80mph...no it's not his first M6 car. In conclusion, from 60-80mph, i pulled him by 1 1/2 car.

regaurdless of the intake, his c5 is still 400 pounds lighter. The outcome sounds right.

im about 200lbs lighter, even if he had the ls6 intake, i would have still pulled him, but he would have hung on to me much better.

I don't see the gross difference in spread based on 200lbs and an intake.

Eigther you hit before he did, or what - the - ???? - ever .

Race a second time. You don't just win because you have a
'vette. Especially when he has a bigger cam with more aggressive lobes. If his car was really tuned and it was a dead even hit it wouldn't be the outcome you describe. Not 1.5 stinking cars in 20mph's distance. Something is off.

If you didn't race twice, or if he doesn't post up here saying "yeah I did all I could and in less than one gear's distance he just pulled on me."

And please.... don't start an argument.... trust me.

we both hit at the same time. I can't help it his SS was not up to par with the vararam and patriot cam on my C5. Peak numbers are worthless when there is not enough power under the curve to compensate for its low end lacking................yes his car was tuned, we both use the same tuner and we both had our work done at the same place.

he traps 114-116mph and runs mid 12s. i trap 118-120mph and run low 12s. We both run street tires and the track dosen't lie....latrz

1.5 cars in 20mph and you call that a race? My car will blip 20mph in a blink. What kind of race was that? Please.

Mr. Know it all.

p.s.- vararam...

not much of a race or worth the risk if the other has no chance of catching you and also putting down less power with more weight. when we both hit, we were pretty much even from the hit for about 5-10mph. after that i started pulling away once the rpms and speed rose.

we're not talking about 0-20mph. i'm talking about from 60 to 80.
i don't care if your car can blip 20mph in a blink, i have a cobra that can do that also.

By that little race, you should pull 7 cars on him by 150. Not possible. You mean your nose was 1 and a half cars in front of his, or there was 1 and a half cars between your rear and his nose? The first is believable, the second is not.

Oh, and that torquer cam is the ****. I have the same one.
