2006 EVO MR Edition - death to me...but not easily
He speeds up to take my lane since its a three-lane and a red light is coming up (his lane and the right-hand lane have cars in them). I quickly give the uh-uh mash on the throttle. He downshifts and mashes it, but I've got the jump - so he has to back off
At the next light, we take off side-by-side and I guess he got a really bad start. All the articles say these things get 0-60 in 4.5 sec. or so. Well, we went through 1st gear together and chirped the wheels from 1st to 2nd shift at exactly the same time.
2-3 he got a fender on me, but not more than that
Then 3-4 shift, I'm out of gears at that point (A4) but we were well into the 90-110 range and he wound up with about a length to length/1.5 on me. He hits the hazards and that's it.
Funny thing, I pulled up beside him and said, "great job, you killed a 1993 4600lb extended cab pickup truck with its windows rolled down!!" - ha ha
So I'm convinced now to get the longtube headers and put the E-Fans on - that should make the next time we meet quite a bit more interesting.

Figures....you guys would want to doubt it - but I don't mind. Most wouldn't believe it unless they saw it - that's why I love my truck - mods:
1993 Extended Cab Small (LS1) Block
6.0ltr intake
AFR 205 (milled 59cc)
G5X2 camshaft
Custom full-length exhaust (might be missing something inside the cats) -
Edelbrock LS-1 shorty headers
BUILT 4L60-E
3:73 8.5" 10-bolt w/ Eaton Posi
Partial tune (still needs some more on the transmission side)
dyno on DynoJet showed: 355rwhp/375rwlbtq
Though its off by a little (think I probably get 1/4 somewhere in 13.7 - 14.0 range) - check out http://www.teamwir.com/Car%20Math.htm - got to the "E.T. Calculator" portion. Plug in "4600" in the weight and plug in "355" for the rearwheel hp

By small (LS1) block do you mean you have an LS1 swap or the stock 5.7L the came in the pre '99 silverados rated at 230hp? That and evos do low 13s/ high 12s stock.
#6
yea but like he said, the evo might have had a bad start. so if the evo bogged from the line, it could very well be true. high 12 with a great launch, low to mid 13 with a alright or bad launch. and if the truck can pull a high 13 or 14 flat, then its possible.

In fact, I've had this truck since 1998 and had the stock 5.7 TBI unit pulled out last year which was putting 225rwhp (it had Canfield 195cc heads, 219/228 & .454/.480lift, with 1.7:1RR, Eledbrock TBI intake, flow matched injectors, TBI spacer, custom tune and more). BTW - the guys at LG didn't want to believe what that truck could do.....yet another reason I love my truck...
Its nothing to look at, but I love killing trucks too. In fact, I didn't even mention the kill on the 2002 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab that I did last Friday night out of respect for them, but your getting on my nerves
Come over to Dallas, TX and I'll be glad to show you.

Haha no one's calling BS we just wanted more info on the truck. Believe me Ive been around trucks and Evo's enough to know what the outcome would be. The 06 MR is a low 13 sec car stock possibly high 12's with the right driver so it would take a fast truck to give it a good race. I know when i was stock I used to pull Lightnings in my Evo pretty hard.

IMO the older silverados look better than the new(er) ones. i don't like the rounded off front ends, etc.
also, 93chevext5.7...excellent work on that truck. it seems you've invested a lot of time and effort into that project, i like it. i'd LOVE to swap a built ls1 into an 83-87 full size chevy. i had a 3/4 ton 4wd 84 that i fell in love with. i will have another one soon.
a local here went 12.92 with a BONE stock 05 evo.

Damn the ******* haters on these forums. What the hell is everyones problem? 2000 Silverado, look at his sig. Do you see LS1? Yes, use your ******* mind!
Anyway, nice death, those MR's are pretty damn quick and badass cars to boot. I ran one at Ennis about 2 months ago. My 8.9 (2.3 '60), boiling through 2nd to his 8.7. I started to pull back about the last 1/4 but it was over. Nice run that was. He ate my *** off the line like nobodys business.

You knew someone was either going to call bs or question your kill, so why get so mad at me?

Thanks s346k and I <3 80057,
s346k - your right. Man, it took reprogramming the world to get the wiring straight. I had to hand that over, but the guys that did it did a wonderful job. I've got one code - TPS which I'm not too concerned about. Man, if you ever do get an LS1 into a truck, please, do it in a 70s or 80s model truck cause with all the stuff for the 90s - eek!!!
What would probably kill 2000 Silverado to know is the ECM and wiring is from a 2000 Silverado - he he. I couldn't use the 1993 4L60E transmission in the truck (which had a good warranty still on it) cause the 99 LS1 transmission has a different controller. So I had to buy a transmission which would compliment the ECM....either that or could you imagine putting a T-56 - LOL - now that would be a sight!!

What I can't figure out is why I'm always the one targeted as the person that starts everything. All I did is ask what his mods are, and he gets all butt hurt about it. I mean come on, how many '93 silverados can almost beat an evo? What I suggest he does is put his mods in his sig like everyone else.

2000 Silverado,
Maybe its cause we all actually like Barney, maybe its that you have a login of 2000 Silverado but your sig mentions an 02 Silverado - either way - my butt feels okay however, maybe your partner hasn't been paying yours enough attention...jk
Come on, man - its all a bunch of fun. I bet you'd have loved to seen the look on this jokers face when he's runnin' 70mph and there's this big ol' POS (as you put it) truck right beside him...

That's what I was thinking, but when I asked you your mods, you SEEMED (apparently I was wrong) to get upset because I wasn't ready to believe your story. I do have to agree with you though about people calling bs, and getting mad that a truck beat a car. That's part of the reason I drive a truck as well, and it's more fun to go fast in something big and heavy. But anyway, good almost kill on the evo, lol. And sorry about calling your truck an ugly, old POS.
P.S. The reason my screen name is 2000 SILVERADO is because I joined these forums before I got my truck. And Barney sucks.
