745i + 65mph = Buslengths
Short story:
Cruisin' home from work the other night, a black 745/760 BMW jockies for position in the fast lane to my left and falls into my blindspot. I'm in 6th gear with the cruise control set at 75mph.
15 Frwy north at 3am is pretty wide open, even for a Saturday night.
I got tired of this BS so I dropped it into 4th and brought it down to ~65mph. Bimmer guy bites and its on!
I blinked and the next thing I know he's about 4 buslengths behind me, I'm not even at 100 MPH yet, but shut down so I dont scare the **** out of the drivers in front.
His passenger gives a thumbs up.. I return it.. and we go our ways.

I raced one a while back and beat it.
But seriously BUS LENGTHS from 65mph to under a 100mph.
The 645i has 325bhp and runs mid 13's STOCK.
Plus an LS1 will do 65-100mph in like 5 seconds or so stock. So you managed to pull a 3 or 4 second lead in less than 5 seconds
Either they didn't race, you are mistaken by the distance gained or your car fell of a cliff while they continued along the cost road.

Perhaps you assume my car is stock. Perhaps the guy driving the bimmer assumed the same thing.
Yes, I think he gave up after the first two buslengths. The third was just for good measure.

And lots of people list what they actually HAVE no matter if it's a catback or a fully built setup.
And considering most people over judge and highly exagerate stories all available evidence says it was BS.
But to pull FOUR buslengths in less than 5 seconds. No wait it if the LS1 was modded it'd do 65-100mph a lot quicker, maybe nearer 3 and a bit seconds or less.
So in 3 seconds they pulled ~200 feet plus on a car capable of 104mph traps.
If they're not putting down some 600rwhp or so it's total BS
To put that kind of distance on a car not even racing would be a challenge in that time scale.

What the hell is a "smeg?" Should I be offended?
Frankly, I'm not sure exactly how many buslengths it ended at. I'm near sighted and those BMW angel eyes were so far back I thought he ran out of gas.
Hell, I'm not even sure I pulled back at 100mph, could have been more, could have been less. But, it was close to 100mph. Figure, its 3am, the top is down, the stereo is cranked. I'm much more concerned with drunks, highway patrol, and the occasional coyote then the speedo.
I'm by no means a street racer. I just get tired of these huge sigs that look more like brag sheets. It would be shorter to list the parts that are stock. If you give a **** about dyno numbers, and I don't, the camaro is pushing a hair over 500. Albeit, it's pig heavy. But at that speed, does weight matter?
I wrote 745/760 because I didnt bother looking at the emblem, only the tail lights. Those tail lights are very distinctive. So, what is the difference between the two models? I figured the 760 had more crap/weight and made those BMW pusies feel proud to dump their cash on german BS. (Sorry for any flamatory remarks, ask me how I really feel)

My bolt-on LT1 would pull busses on a 7-series and has. Hell, a friend of mine had just gotten his 745 and was tearing up the 73. I saw him in my rear view, waited... then punched it right as he was at my rear. Needless to say, I caught up, matched and passed.
Later on, he said, "Wow, my car's really fast but that American kid-car has a lot of punch."
I said, "Punch? Punch!?!? I waited for you @ 75mph, and you were passing at 90mph, while going UP HILL and I've got 'punch'?!?"
I swear, I get more runs from people with Beemers and Benz's nowadays than any "ricer" or "muscle" out there.

The 745 had a 4.4 Litre V8 and the 760 has a 6.0 litre V12. There is no longer a 745, it is now the 750. it has a 4.8 litre V8 that makes 360/360 in a 4400 lb car. The 760 weighs 300 lbs more but also makes 438 hp and 444 ft/lbs. 760's are awesome cars. Talk about all the punch you want. These cars are 10x nicer than any rust bucket a US manufacturer produces.

Almost seems like bimmer envy from a vette owner.
Thanks for the explaination of the 745/760 differences. If you are describing the latest generation 7, doesn’t it sell for +110K? What American rust bucket could you possible compare it too? Nothing is even close to that price range for a luxo barge.
Until I can afford a fresh off the showroom floor 110K boat, I’ll be happy to destroy them on the street.

While it may boast 325hp, the 745 (assuming that is actually what he ran) also has a curb weight of 4500lbs ... 1,000 lb's heavier than an f-bod. It does 0-60 in about 5.9 seconds, and if your information about a 1/4 in 13.5 @ 104mph is correct ... it takes that car approximately 7 1/2 seconds to go from 60mph to 105mph.
A 500hp f-bod, which should run high 10's and trap in the 120's, would most certainly be capable of getting to 100mph 1 - 2 seconds before the 745. I would estimate that time difference to be a bus length or two. And of course, the driver of the BMW might have let off after realizing he was getting destroyed, creating the appearance of an even larger victory.
