Default You guys ever get the "My car costs less" excuse???

Alright last night Im with my girl and were coming back from Applebees in my Nothcback. As I'm at the light a 88-91 hatchback pulls up with 3 kids in it. They rev and I throw a rev back. As the light turns green they punch it and take off and I immediately go also. As I hit 2nd Im pulling on them and hit 3rd and slow down and they are about 3 cars back or so. As we come to the next light, the passenger looks at me and says this car only cost $1500, way less than yours. So as Im looking at this primered, sitting on donks, missing half its interior car, I reply well I might have paid more but but in return got myself a real and complete car and then the light turns green and I take off. My gf could not stop laughing. Just wondering you guys ever get this **** in your cars???

I've never understood why some people actually gloat about not being able to afford an expensive car.

Mediocracy. The new ideology.

I dont know if I coined that term or not, but its definitely applicable here.

I love the people who loose then bitch about how the other car takes more to be fast. Its like bitching about the other guy out working you and winning because of it. Isnt that kinda how contests are supposed to work?

On one hand, I can understand, since I feel good beating cars like CLS AMG's and Porsches. But when it comes to losing, for a second I think, "yeah, but your car costs more than mine," then I think, "yeah, but I still lost and I've got $ that should go to mods, not just a lease payment."

Why didn't you just tell them about your free cobra. I'm sure that would have pissed him off.
Good kill. What a douche. When he said that to you, you should have just looked his car over and said
"yeah, and it shows"

i got that line from a local guy with an 88 gt.

i laid it to his 456 geared 5 spd head/cam/intake 5.0 by more than a second in the 1320, and his response was "i paid a hell of a lot less for this"...my response as mentioned earlier - "it shows."

that'll ****'em off in a heartbeat.

It's a ricer thinking process..... but, as usual, they get what they pay for. Want to spend 3 grand on a car? You'll have a 3000 dollar piece of ****. All there is to it.

Eh, if it's still a decent car that yields a decent bang for the buck I can see the argument. If it's a piece of total junk that is worth all of $1500 like the one in this story then that's a totally different thing, they still have a slow turd. If you have a Fbody or Stang (err, nice Stang since the car in question was a Stang) or something like that that is both affordable and runs strong enough to compete w/ significantly more expensive cars then I think it's a pretty valid thing to think. Is it an excuse somewhat if you lose, yeah I suppose so but still...

Look at it from the other side, if you hung right with a Lambo or other exotic in your Cobra or old Z06 wouldn't you think to yourself that you paid a heck of alot less for great performance (assuming you actually bought the Cobra, lol) even if you lost by a little? I would, even more so if I won... But I don't think I'd try to convince the driver of the more expensive car that I'm now somehow better than them or something, lol.

Even if I thought that to myself after I lost to an expensive car, I'd never say it. I'd know that I was caught up in the moment and hold my tongue. I'd give the guy a compliment on how nice his car is: nobody likes a sore loser.

Yah I am with you Camaro fan, but im pretty sure if I raced a guy with a 200K Lambo and I beat him in my Cobra, he could have bought a Cobra in the first place and put all that money into it and murdered me. Now if its a cocky exotic car owner, then its different.

I've never heard that in the Vette . I guess people think that these things never lose value like every other car does. A couple of the local srt-4 guys tried that excuse and got very disscouraged to say the least when I told them they coulda got a vette for the same price as a new SRT-4. And at the end of the race I still get to ride home in a Vette so either way I think of it as a win, just need to make it faster though.
