From my research of the NSX I recall reading that the 90-96 model was a 3.0 liter V6, with power rated at 270hp. They dyno around 240whp( http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=328 ). The 97 on up were rated at 290hp, and dynoed around 260whp+ ( http://www.dynospotracing.com/32nsx.htm ). The gearing is sick on them, which makes up for their obvious lack of torque. I still can't see one beating a 370+whp vette. I know gearing plays a factor, but I wouldn't think that much of a factor.

NSX's are amazing performers and breathtakingly fast. Some people are "deer in headlights" torque fiends. As a result they think that the NSX is slow.

Just not the case.

if i mash the gas at 40mph, my 2.73 geared car feels like a damn V6. it DOESN'T MOVE! he was obviously in his sweet spot and you weren't - it's a damn roll race, you can't both be in your sweet spot at the same time! someone is going to have a powerband disadvantage.

race it from a dig and it has no chance in blue hell. NSX's are dogshit slow for the pricetag. an NSX is a ricer's supercar. only honda would make a car that looked like that and stick a V6 in it that has no chance of sounding good and runs with bone stock $25,000 LS1 cars. put it against any other supercar and it's towing a trailer. FWIW, i think the car's ugly, too.
Unfortunately:

a. You're not very car knowledgeable

b. You think that the true measure of any car's value is in how fast it gets from point A to point B.

Myopia.

maybe because they are. Speed is relative, theyre fast compared to some cars, but slow compared to similar cars.

Cute sig btw.

It is when we are comparing which one is faster.

Pffft. $90,000 for 270 hp.

Late model NSXs are considerably underrated from the factory. And I have, for a fact, seen them dyno 265-270 bone stock. I'm searching my records for substantiation.

The general theme of many posts in here surrounds:

"Why would anyone spend 90K on a car with 270 HP."

But that presupposes that said "anyone" bought the 90K car with the vehicle's straight line perfomance as the preeminent consideration.

I guess that some people are more holistic in their car buying purchases.

They must be misguided huh?

selective reading, just filter out the bs posts and read the knowledgable ones, it makes pretty much every forum alot better.

Agreed. I have singled out these certain posts to take issue with.

Though I am surprised that too many here are ignorant to the performance value of the NSX, I have noticed that a good many here understand that on the roadway they won't be running just GMs--so it may be a good idea to understand what else is out there.

And by "understand," I don't mean retaining the neon-colored frothy liquid oozing from the mouths of the import-hater community.

That is myopia.

OMFG, that is the biggest goddam ricer excuse I've ever heard. Oh, yeah, my car is slow, but the true measure of a car is something other than how fast it is.

(what exactly would that measure be, oh wise one? Whether it has an "H" on the hood?)

Okay, go ahead. If they really do dyno 270 stock then I'd like to hear about it. But that's still PATHETIC for $90,000.

I guess you didn't look at my post up above. There's your sustantiation. Though it still doesn't make sense that a car that is the same weight, as more over under the curve, and over 100whp on it, lost to it.

Here's the dyno graph. Basically 269.7whp, so we will call it 270whp. Cool.

He is just saying that you don't always pay 90K for A to B speed. That price includes great interior, styling, and amazing engineering.

BTW, how many posts does this say I have? <<<< I see 61, but earlier today I had 33.

theres your answer.. this guy is running a 12.8 in a vette with 380RWHP? learn how to drive.
