I pull up to a red light with a 4 door g35 looked newer and i have a 2000 ss ls1 v8 5.7L 6-speed chevrolet camaro, we take off and we are about equal with him having the jump and then a van was in the way so i waited for him to come back up to me i was in 4th and slamed it in third at about 60mph when he was up to me.He pulled a 2 car lead on me and i kept wih him til 90mph! He must have been modded i was so embarrased my friend was in the car and kept laughing and he was like what dude u have an ss!

How many spark plugs were you running? j/k, but honestly I've never even seen one in the 13-second range. Did you hear a turbo? I really couldn't see this happening unless he was using forced induction of some kind.

the G35 sedan is basically a luxury sedan with the 350Z powerplant. If you are stock, and putting it in third, I can see him winning by a bit with a few mods.

I see your in IL. Was this G35 black? I ran into a black awd G35 last spring that absolutely hauled ***. He destroyed me from a stop(I still had runflats), but I killed him from a roll. As we were racing the car sounded almost like an 03/04 cobra. Next light I asked him if he was blown and sure enough he was.
Car looked bone stock. Still had factory exhaust or what appeared to be factory.

Nice death assclown Just kidding, not everyone on here knows how to get the most out of their cars at different speeds w/ a roll race. A dig is easier as long as you know what rpm you're making peak power at and shift a few hundred rpm past that point. It just takes experience to get the gear choice right for different speeds.

thats not as embarassing as me accidently trying to race a 350whp 240sx in 4th gear instead of 2nd going like 55-60.. shoulda seen how bad i got walked. i wanted someone to slap me in the face

Those cars aren't fast at all, it should have been an easy kill for you. The Nissan VQ V6, even with full bolt ons, has trouble hanging with stock LS1's. In order to actually beat an LS1, it would need a turbo setup, which I seriously doubt this guy had.

FWIW, stock 350z's have hit 13's, stock, though it doesn't seem the norm.

A 350Z will hit 13's once in a blue moon, with a perfect driver under optimal conditions and a perfectly prepped track. Most guys run mid-low 14's on average.

Your gear ratio did it. Like everyone says, you need to be in 2nd. Not sure on an f-body, but dad/bro vettes go 53 in 1st and ~70-80 in 2nd. You ratios should be like this:
2.66 / 1.78 / 1.30 / 1.00 / .75 / .50
So not only were you not in your powerband, but your torque multiplication was 1 instead of 1.78. If I'm not mistaken, that means you had roughly 78% fewer lb-ft hitting the ground than you should have and on top of that you were probably in the wrong powerband - probably running about 2500 instead of 4500+. That ought to account for about 22% so pretty much half your performance is what you were putting out.
