well I was getting onto the highway today to go to a local car meet to hangout with some buds of mine. As iam pulling on a killer bright red GTS viper goes screaming by. So I turn on the bottle and follow him. He moved over a little while later and I smiled at him and waved to see if he would race. He kinda shrugged me off like I wasnt good enough for him. So I hit the juice and flyby him. Later down the road he gets of the same exit as me and were cruising around 55mph on a 2 lane highway. All of a sudden he comes screaming up next to me and waves motioning like he wants to race. So Iam game at this point. We slow to about 45 and take off. I was in second when we left and at the top of fourth I put about 4 cars on him. I was like WTF?? shouldnt a viper be faster. Well long story short he gave the thumbs up and we went our ways. Seemed like he was actually a pretty cool dude.

 

Viper's are not slow at all. Your car is just faster.

On spray, you're putting down more at the wheels than the Viper is at the crank (assuming the Viper was stock). Mags tested the GTS at low-mid 12s at high teens to low 120s mph.

 

You should have shrugged him off the second time like he did you. That would have pissed him off just a little!

 

but the question is could you resist the urge to race a viper if it wanted to play? i couldnt the only time i had one messing with me and i was in a death zone for cops

Yeah your right I just couldnt let this one go to waste. I ran my car at the track the other day. On a 2.1 60' I went 12.4 at 120mph. Guess i just have to work on the 60' a little.

 

My 99 Viper just dynoed 410 rwhp and 465 rwt bone stock SAE on the same dyno that my bone stock 2004 auto C5 dynoed 299 rwhp and 310 rwt SAE...Most people thought my bone stock C5 was pretty fast...THE POINT IS.....

Vipers arent slow..Your car is just fast. Congradulations..But think about it..You have 500 somthing tourque with the nitros shot right????

My last car was a 2004 mild H/C Ls1 corvette...224/224 .563 112 LSa with LS6 heads..

Car amde 378 rwhp and 370 rwt....79 more rwhp and 60 more rwt respectivly than when bone stock...

Thats about 32 less rwhp and 95 rwt less than what my stock Viper made...

With an very agressive cam and some AFR 205 heads most LS1's will be in the 400-440 rwhp range ( equal to or easily eclipsing my viper) but my 465 rwt isnrt that easy to beat..

So before you start running your mouth..Think about who your talking too...Did you read my sig????? Or only see I owned a Viper and wanted to start some jeolously/rivalry??????

I was giving the guy a compliment on his tourque...with 500 rwt...Well..Thats pretty sick for a daily driver and he could give just about any production car on the road a run for it's money.

 

Hey thanks for the compliment KILLEMALL. No need to get all upset. If you ask any of my friends they know Ive been a viper lover since i was little. Just sucks I cant afford to by one. And yes your right vipers are by no means slow. And yes my torque is what helps me win most of my races on the street. BTW is your viper a R/T 10 or is it a GTS

 

My question is, how did you make 525rwtq? Besides a catback and lid, my car put down 515rwhp on a 150 shot, Mustang dyno. I figured you would put down at least 550.

You have most likely have quite a bit more HP than the viper. Why would it be faster?

No h/c LS1 will ever make 465 rwt, let alone a mild setup.

 

Hey JB I only made 525rwtq because my car is a 2000. So that means I have the LS1 intake not the ls6. And I have EGR still. Also I still have the stock exhaust manifolds and the stock ypipe too. Kinda sucks. Iam leaving at least 40 to 50 rwhp on the table with just those two mods. Even though I have a cam iam not quite taking full advantage off it yet.

 

That is a dumb thing to say!! If you got beat by a civic..........it still a civic!

I think I'd rather be driving a Viper than a civic!

My point is...........there is always someone faster, so drive a nice car that you like. i.e. a Viper/Vette/F-body.
