Default Sti#2

Well I think I have a thing for taking down STi's, and after buying my Firehawk I couldn't resist testing it on this fool...

Setting: On my way to my G/F's house, about midnight, perfect cold night...

The story...

I chill in my car literally as I wait for my G/F to make her way to my car... I see some **** in the back seat and being the neat freak I am I shove it under her seat before she gets in... She opens the door and slides into the bucket seat next to me, we talk for awhile and get headed down the road, cautious not to wake her parents... So I'm showing her the Hawk around town bein bored, and suddenly I am pulled to the highway... I cant help it I have to goto the highway.

As I get on the on ramp I decided to show her why I love this car, we hit around 70 before we get on the highway... I see some unmistakeable headlights in my rearview coming up on me.....fast. I downshift into 4th and get ready.... The white thing goes flying by me, but I wait for him to take the bait and come back... he does.I get ready to shift into 3rd, but I notice this isnt any regular STi I can see it at least has exhaust.

I look over at my G/F and she just smiles and nods, so at this point IM ******* GAME. I throw a rev towards him and he throws it right back, I slow down to 40, he follows, I know the run will be good at this altitude, I roll downt he window and hold up 3 fingers, he nods....

3....2....1...I'm slaming the pedal into the floor like I want it to go through the floor, I ****** 4th perfect, he's staying right next to me, 4500.....5000.....6000...6200 5TH! I dont know if I'm going to win but the god under the hood knows whats going to happen so I let him do its thing, the STi starts loosing ground 145 shutdown with him 1/2 a car behind me.

I look over my G/F has a ear to ear grin, she looks back over at me and says thats the first time shes been over 100. I tell her it wont be the last, she nods and I look back at the STi who rolls down his window and gives me the thumbs up, I give him one back and get off on the next exit to go get something to eat.

1st race in the Hawk didn't think it would do as well as it did but it was a good way to start off two great relationships...

Good Kill. Great story writing too!
The Sti must have been pretty proud of himself to be able to keep up with you as well as he did.

Good kill, was it an older STI or an 06+? If he had exhaust (depending if it was full exhaust or cat back)then he probably had a tune as well and could be considered stage II. What mods do you have?

why would you start in 3rd at 40? That's a serious disadvantage.

You can push your 3.42s to 50 if you wanna get to unnecissarilly high rpms...a GOOD shiftpoint is about 39-42mph out of first. So if your going to start at 40-50...hit 2nd gear it pulls nicely around then, take 2nd to 65(I believe), then take 3rd to 100, after that I just watch the road more and listen to my car, she'll tell me when its time to shift (my car that is, my gf doesnt talk when i'm racing, just holds on for the ride)

M6 with stock 3.42's goes to 50mph in 1st. If you're shifting at 42mph, which is around 5200rpms, when racing someone, you're going to be in big trouble... You gotta be shifting close to red line to stay in power band when you race... 5900-6000rpms and nothing less man!

So once again stock 3.42's in a M6 will be 50mph 1st to 2nd, 75mph or so 2nd to 3rd, 103mph or so 3rd to 4th.
