That explains it, I was wondering why it was so weak.
Fricken nice looking car.

I own a lincoln navigator and one of the reasons i could see putting the 5.4 in their is for bragging rights...
After all..Isnt the Navigator 5.4 the same block thats found in the ford GT ( only without all the fordging and other go fast stuff)
As well 340/340 is pretty good for an NA mustang right????? About on par with a bolt on LS1...

I'm with Irunelevens on the sound of 4.6 DOHC Cobras. I'm not a big Mustang fan but my cousin and my best friend both have to have the best sounding cars around where I live with their Cobras. But then again I'm always a sucker for a nice LT1 w/ SLP Loudmouth exhaust on it or a nice flowmaster.

A 4.6 DOHC motor will never cam as hard as a pushrod motor and IMO will never sound as good. The DOHC doesn't need agressive lift/duration #'s to make power since they have 4 valves per cylinder. But they will lope but nothing like a what everyone is used to hearing from the LS1/302 crowd. -Mark

That's a damn nice 'stang! I don't understand the reasoning behind going with the 5.4L block. The only thing I see as an upside is that he can drive it around while waiting for the turbo install. I think I would of gone for an 03/04 Cobra motor and turbo install all at the same time, but that's just me.

Well you know what they say... "There is no replacement for displacement. Given the same redline, cams, etc, the 5.4 will make plenty more power than a comparable 4.6. It's time intensive, but worth it in the long run, depending on your power goals.
