I have had a police officer accuse me of street racing once while I was crusing home minding my own business driving the speed limit and obeying all traffic laws (and certainly NOT racing). He harrassed me and threatened me, I didn't get a ticket though. Seems to me that now and then you find these corrupt cops around. There are more good, professional police around I'm sure.... too bad we have some corrupt officers that make them look bad :\

Well, it sounds like you stepped on his toes a little and he got pissed. Not saying your lying, but I'm in law enforcement and know there is always another side to the story.

He probably thought you were challenging his authority after he motioned for you to turn your stereo down (that's what the thumb down was for) and when you blew him off he didn't like that. Then confronting him in the bank was a worse idea yet. Granted I wasn't there but you probably got what you deserved, and I think you know it. Just my $.02, that's all.

Reading between the lines it sounds like you got what you deserved. Turn your radio down when you get near public areas and you won't have problems like that in the future. I like listening to loud music when I drive, but I try and be respectful at the same. When all you can hear is boom, boom, boom and the cars license plate rattling it's very annoying.

dude, he asked you to turn it down without making a scene. and you ended up making a scene anyway. why?

you're not a tough guy if you challenge or question a cop, you're just someone who lacks respect. i am the last one on earth who would ever kiss ***, but i am not going out of my way to challenge a cop. thats just plain stupid. it may seem like they are picking on you but be a man and get over it. or you end up looking like some spoiled, punk, kid.

I would probably just pay the fine too. I've been in a similar situation and it eneded up costing alot more than it should have. Though for what its worth I would have told him to F-off when he was trying to be a Billy Bad *** too. He could have just asked you to turn it down and let you off with a warning.

Chances are the cop was a detective and they generally wear their badges next to their gun, but at the same time he could of just been off duty. When he flashed his gun the first time maybe he thought you saw his badge but all you really focused on was the gun. That would be a normal reaction to see the gun but not the badge. The thumbs down was the warning from the cop to turn down the music. Then when you confronted him in the bank that made it worse on you. I don't know where your from but most cities have noise ordinances and here in Louisiana the State Law states that ANYTHING ( cursing, drinking, loud music, etc. ) that would foreseeably disturb the peace of the public is a violation. If your state or ordinance law states something like that your were in the wrong. The cop in my opinion ( because I am one ) should have announced his authority instead of making the gesture that he did. Like so many others have said I wasn't there and yes there is always two sides to every story. I believe that if he did that there would have been a different outcome and maybe you wouldn't hate all of us that actually serve and protect all, not just some. Atleast to
the best of our abilities. I'm sorry that you had to meet a possible ******** cop ( don't know the guy good enough to make an assumption ), but if where your from is like anywhere else my advice to you is to pay the ticket because the judge will ask you one question that will prove you guilty. Did you have your music up?

yeah but egging his house what are you 14? dont let that guy do that to you. it only enpowers him even more to do **** like that. In reality he works for you. file a complaint and dont pay the fine till you fight it, it might get lower but that cant make it higher.

1.Empower him to what? Enforce more laws? Shame on him, guess you've never had a car bumpin away next to your house at 3 am.

2. No, we don't work for you. We work for whatever law enforcement agency employs us. What we do have is authority over you should you pass through my playing field.

3.If he takes it to court there's a good possiblity that court costs will get added on to the fine. So yes, the fine can go up.

Law enforcement agencies work for their prospective regions in which they cover, being municipal, county, state or federal governments. They are the ones allocating funds for their law enforcement agency. I'll just try using an example. Your taxes go to welfare recipients. Do you own the welfare recipients? If somebody works for you, you have the right to raise/lower their wages, control their hours, things like that. This doesn't happen with law enforcement, we're here to protect the innocent and to serve the general public, but don't take a pay cut if you don't like the way I'm doing my job. I don't start knocking on the doors of civilians I protect asking for a pay increase. Don't confuse serving the public with being owned by the public.
