I'm not one to call out spelling mistakes, but coming from a servicemember trying to spell Iraq? Whether or not you've been to Iraq is of little concern to me... but do you even read or watch the news?

And by the way, Iraq is trying to take a stand. In America, the police deal mostly with the unruly. Over there, the IA/IP/USAR/USMC deal with insurgents. Prove to me that you're not an idiot by not asking me to elaborate on this critical difference between the populaces.

then they can tell you what to do, when to do it and run your life for you ..ect ..
If you follow the law, the police won't follow you. It's not that hard.

i fought for my country JUST SO PEOPLE LIKE YOU can run your mouth.. like it or not thats freedom ..
The police protect freedoms as well.

the cop is taking the law to far, obviouly ...and he will keep abusing till he is stopped ..
I WANT our police to be heavy hitters. Why should they be any less? They are people in a position of legal authority, put in place to protect you from other people including yourself in the event that you violate law(s). 99% of the time, IMO, they have a thankless job.

So you had a bad run-in with the cops, and remain butthurt for 2 decades. How about trying to fix the problem, instead of holding the police in contempt?

It all stems for cops doing this crap instead of handling people in a respecful manner.
I've had nothing but good experiences with the police in ID, WA, CA, and NY. They were courteous, articulate, and respectful.

The problem is lack of education that you need to be a cop. But then again anyone that offers you a job while handing you a gun and says "you may need this" just has to be a dumb *** in the first place.
Yeah, like our enlisted soldiers, mariners, sailors, and airmen, right? What do you need, at a minimum, in order to enlist? Oh yeah - a GED. My point? The importance of your job has nothing to do with your education.

If you're so concerned with the quality of the police force, how about giving them more incentives to do what they have to do? Instead of trying to cut down their pay... Good Lord.

You're all complain and no help, like most people in America today.

Thank you soooo very much for addressing that last issue. I bet he is one of the first to talk about what a great job our service men and women are doing ( which they are doing a fantastic job ) but he want to cut someone down by saying they arent intelligent to take a job where your handed a gun. To me it shows that they have major heart and they have all my respect.

It's somewhat amusing but mostly sad to see the law enforcement peep that chime in here and take up for this behavior. It's also typical. You ******* cops are just another gang. One does wrong and more will bust their hump to make sure that he doesn't get in trouble; **** the law, it's all about power. There is no reasonable system of protection for citizens against police. Police injustice can be blatantly filmed and officers are exonerated... There is no REAL oversight. You all swore an oath to protect the people and uphold our constitution and you wipe your asses with it and wonder why the public's opinion on you and your peers is so low.....

This was bullying and intimidation; dress it up to justify it however you like.

Damn man that sucks but honestly the best thing to do is to just let something like that go. My best friend is a police officer and although he stays on an even keel a lot of guys will be pissed about something in their personal life or on the job and will carry it with them throughout the day and will take it out on whoever they happen to run into. My guess is the officer was probably in a bad mood and was taking it out on you and the best thing to do in that situation is to ignore him and go about your business. Theres no excuse for his actions and he sounds like he was being a real dick but as they say let sleeping dogs lie...

And your Police chases are hilarious 1 guy being chased by 20 cops cars!

That would never happen in the UK! 2 -3 cars maybe!

I'm gonna throw in my .02 as a cop for almost 14 years in Baltimore...Its all about perception...Imho the cop was acting kinda like an ***...If I were to ever take the time to care about a noise ordinance in between getting shot at, kicking doors in looking for fleeing felons, etc...I would have probably just waived the guy over to me descretely, identified myself, and just said, "hey do you mind turning down the music..." nuff said...No pointing at a badge/gun or whatever...I'm sure it would have ended with no drama and the thread starter would not be mad...There are simply things worth fighting over and this was not one of them...

There's bad people in every job and we are no exception...It just puts a stain on police in general when we screw up...or are perceived to be inappropriate...Sound like this cop is the typical I-got-beat-up-in-school-and-now-I-have-a-badge-and -gun kind of officer and for that I'm sorry...If you feel its something worth fighting for then go to court and good luck with everything...

Nothing shows ignorance like a blanket statement. Law enforcement is necessary on many levels. I have been in very bad situations with very bad people that would probably make you drop a turd in your pants. You should be thankful it was me instead of you, but if you think you can do my job better you should give it a shot. Who said law enforcement is a thankless job?

Read my post...I'm not taking up for stuff I believe is wrong...You already have an opinion of us and thats your opinion...I assure you that there are way more good police than bad, but the news doesn't do stories on what we do well...I agree that there are some people on this job on a power trip, but theres way more who do it for people like you, to try to make the place you live in a bit safer...Most of us are just everyday people doing a job that has to be done, that no one else has the nuts to step up and do...

I'm not here to justify police doing wrong because it makes us all look bad...I don't tolerate it...I'm sure my post won't make you think differently about us...The general public has no idea what really goes on when the lights go out...I work on a Warrant team that serves felony warrants, for shootings, robberies, etc..We hit doors at 5 am to take them off the streets so that just maybe they won't be able to rob or kill you or your family tomorrow...I don't need you to like me, just to understand...

I still think the cop was out of line to address the noise issue the way he did...

first, check to see if there is a sound ordinance. if there isn't, then you weren't breaking the law. it's as simple as that. if there is an ordinance, have the officer prove that it was too loud.
in most cases, if it's a town cop, just arriving on the scheduled court date is reason enough for the judge to seriously take into consideration that you're innocent. if you felt threatened and degraded, then let the judge know. you're the victim and you have a right to fight. just remember, there IS something you can do. don't just give up.

so let me get this straight, punk kid thumps his system and cop gestures to turn it down and flashes a badge. kid gets pissy 'cause he saw a gun and questions the cop in the bank and threatens to report him ( waaa i am gonna tell on you). cop writes ticket and kid crys harder on here and calls it intimidation. all the cop haters kick and scream and treat the kid like he's Rosa Parks making a stand for all the little people.

i gave 6 years to the navy for this ****? i manned my .50 cal in 110 heat while floating through the suez canal, a week after one of our ships (USS Cole) got bombed in port for this? i lost friends and ruined relationships during 6month cruises for this? i wasn't there when my grandmother died 'cuz i was serving this country. i missed my lil brother growing up cuz i was serving my Navy. i stood two 4hour watches a night, with my rifle, shotgun, or 9mm, 2-3 days a week for my country. i missed christmas four years straight for YOUR rights. i feel Noah had it nice to be out to sea for just 40days and nights. for this ****? BULLSHIT, theres rights and courtesy. and i know you cop haters have no idea how to excersize either one. and the police are here to serve and protect EVERYONES rights, not just yours. you know, there are ******** cops. there are ******** squids, jarheads, grunts, airforce, and coasties. but does that make the military a bullshit organasation or gang? i am willing to bet there are more dicks in the service by ratio. i dare you to question the legitamacy of the military to a vets face, mine included.

you know, my last watch on my .50 cal before i got out was on september 12th 2001, off the coast of New York. if i remember the news correctly, i saw firemen AND cops running into those buildings trying to save lives. alot of them never made it.

you all are right, i mean about freedom of speach and all that. i am just digusted that i fought for people to take that right and abuse it. to think this world revolves around them. respect in this country is rare anymore. people just **** and moan and cry like babies if they feel they have been violated in the slightest way, even when they are in the wrong to begin with...

to all the people like this, to all the cop haters who think all the cop is worried about is coming down on you and YOUR rights, and to those who don't know how to show respect and courtesey to others all i got to say is....

... 'cuase i EARNED that right.

Also a point that was briefly touched on. Most people wouldn't dare talk disrespectfully about our military personel, but to a lot of these people the police can do no right. I wonder if these people realize the abundant number of military personel that enter the field of law enforcement after their time served in the military is done. There are those that step up to the plate to protect our way of life, and then there are those who bitch and whine about getting a ticket, all the while sipping their latte thinking they have it so rough.

Hopefully, when you take a political stand in writing you use a word processor program, like Word; since simple English seems above you.

BTW, thanks for re-illustrating my point over and over, ad nauseum...

Regardless, if the OP feels the need for redress then take it to court; that is his option. Don't be astonished if you just waste time and money for deciding to be a smart ***. My rule of thumb is if you are going to threaten me with a complaint, then I will take enforcement action so that there is no doubt about the nature of our contact, and I am not also accused of simple harassment on no legal grounds.

The citation is proof that I was contacting you for a police matter, not just being a d!ck on a power trip.

I dont agree that the officers should have handled it in the manor they did, but here is a suggestion from now on....DONT BLARE YOUR SYSTEM !!! Turn it down when going into certain areas...duh...banks(cops might be there sometimes, who woulda ever thought that), gas stations, businesses. That **** IS distracting to others AND can cause YOU not to hear horns or sirens....been in a car where we almost wrecked cause the driver was "thump'n" his kickers. Don't do anything to get you noticed and you wont get noticed, some cops are dicks...don't give them what they are looking for...a reason to **** w/ young guys in nice cars.
