some smart people in this thread, and some clueless people. jive been a motorcycle road racer for years racing 600's and 1000's. if you beat a modern 600cc sport bike with a bolt on ls1(and i dont mean katana, yzf, zzr, etc.. i mean gsxr, r6, zx, cbrrr) then the rider doesnt know wtf he is doing. with average riders your looking at low to mid 11's. a skilled rider will tick off mid-high 10's at close to 130mph trap speeds. and a top speed of just short of 160mph too. trap speed shows how hard these bikes still pull on the big end. your gonna need a 10 second car to beat a modern 600cc sport bike.

this thread is funny. so far the ONLY PEOPLE that have raced bikes and beaten them that replied are TNTRAMAIR, Mr DUDE and me. the only other people's opinions that even matter a little bit are the people that ride bikes, everybody else's information imho is nothing more than speculation.
you think you can beat a bike in your car, race one and fine out. don't know what else to say. i trap 123-125 (best) and every time the bike was gaining on me when the race was over at the 1/4 mile or a little after.

I raced bikes quite a bit...I can beat ANY stock new 600,l beat new GSXR750, and lost to most 1000+ bikes I raced. I ran low 10's on pump gas and radials. Everyone here who thinks they can run with new 600's with bolt ons are so ******* retarded they should be banned from this board.

The skill it takes to ride a bike well, even in a straight line is way more than drag racing a car. I would say that over 90 percent of the people that ride a sportbike cannot ride to the full performance of the machine. Myself included. I used to road race back in the day and i have been on the Drag strip many times in both car and bike. To prove my point pick up any issue of Sportrider, Motorcyclist or Cycle World. All of the front line 600's are in the high to mid tens. It takes a very much modded LS1 to run 10 anything...... Yes on the street anything can happen, but... a well ridden sportbike be it a 600-750-or 1000 will not be beat by a stock or bolt on LS1.
You guys are going to flame me for having no post's but I really do know what i am talking about.

thats right inline with what i said, and im a licensed motorcycle road racer.
someone also posted that comparing 1/4 mile times to road racing is dumb.. and where they are not the same what you cant take from 1/4 performance is the trap speeds. trap speed will show you what a vehicle is capable of at higher speeds and not just based on lauching or 60' times.. a bike that can trap in the high 120's and close to 130 is a fast ******* machine whether from a dead stop or a roll. its just facts man.

A ZX636 is 365 pounds (dry) with 165 hp. CBR,R6's, ZX, Ducati, are pretty similar. That's more than my old 85 Z28 stock(funny fact). A bolt on LS1 (or maybe even a mild cam only LS1) would absolutely get raped by one of these bikes. I couldn't even imagine how disgusting the acceleration would be on a litre class but the new 600's are nasty in there own right.

Most the mags have the 636 at around 130 or so at the crank. Not to argue the speed of any sportbike, but we all agree that there are beatable 600's out there. Catch a katana or 600r (not R6) on the street from a roll and you can get one with a few mods. Once again i do agree that the more "all out" 600's, ie. - the 636, gsx600, R6, cbr600 - are gonna walk away from anyone not running 11's or 10's. And yes there are probably some well ridden katanas and 600r's that would be harder to get than others but from the testamony of fellow riders, the average joe wont get everything out of it. There is no denying that the katana ZZR and the 600r ARE sportbikes and i was just pointing out there are some that can be beaten.
