Default 01 zo6 vs 99 eclipse gsx

had a pretty good race last night. i didnt get it on video. the battery died earlier. i was on my way home when this guy pulls along side of me in his 99 eclipse. at first i didnt want to even waste my gas. but he was just begging to get smoked. his girlfriend was hanging out the window calling me a chicken and saying i didnt have a chance. so i gave in. we did a 30mph roll. 3 honks and we took off. i immediately jumped on him by about 2 lengths but he stayed right there till around 90. we pulled into a gas station after the race to talk and he told me my z06 had to be modded to stay ahead of him like that. he said he was putting down like 301hp and 270tq. i dont know about that but he said i was a liar and i just shook my head. i even showed hime my engine and everything. anyways, what is wrong with people nowadays? sore losers are everywhere.

when you talked to the guy, you should have thrown an empty water bottle at his girl.

that would have been classic.. cause when it hit her in the head it would make that funny sound and then you could call her an idiot.

Yeah Im not sure why he said you were lying. Those year Eclipses were pretty heavy and being an AWD he had the dissadvantage. Sounds like a good kill to me.

Pretty sure there right around 3000 or alittle more. The 1st gen were the lightest and they were still around 2800 I believe. My car is fairly small too and it weighs almost 3300.

I wonder what the outcome would have been if you went from a dig?(Turbo lag is the enemy)Hey their good cars, and have a lot of street cred. I have a 97 GSX and its my daily driver. They do great in the snow.(Don't see too many F bodies or vettes during winter) But there's a fine line between a turbo 4 cyl and an modern chevy muscle car. They put down some serious power w/ a LSx motor. I respect the American classics and all the cars on this forum.
I look forward to picking up F body or C5 this summer!

good kill. he thought you were lying, because he was in denial, that he put sooo much time and effort into his car, and still looses to a stock car...

btw if you would of kept racing past 90, you probably would of put more distance on him

i agree....if you went up to the triple digits you would have ended up pulling 2 cars a second....just way better aerodynamics and his AWD will KILL him in the triple digits

I really wouldn't take that much to make 300whp out of a 4G63... but yes, still modded. But to the OP, yeah, I think if you're gonna call someone out, you better make DAMN sure you know what you're talking about. I can't stand trash-talkers. Good kill

Any moron with some cash can get 270TQ out of a GSX. Thats crappy tune and a 16G territory. Hell, thats good tune and a 14B territory. Kid must really think he is the **** LOL.

He probably thought he was racing a base C5 and that he was lighter.

Which is not really true, I'd bet the weight between the two is about even. He may have even been heavier with his ho girl. 2Gs are kinda porky, like 3200+. My 1G Laser is about 3000-3100. Its definitely lighter than a GSX by a significant amount.

Nice kill, way to be classy about it.

I hate the Evo so much, why because I REALLY wish they put that kind of performance into the other sport Mitsu cars.

A GSX with Evo VIIMIILIIIX whatever performance would be so much fun.

I still wish that they made a 3000 GT VR4 that didn't have a transmission straight outa a 1991 Ford Ranger.

It wasn't the tranny, as much as the flimsy transfer cases

^mid 200s WHP is pretty damn easy for a DSM at least. The trick would be getting the chassis to beahve that well, and honestly I dont think you ever really could get a 1G or 2G to have quite the Evo has in terms of its grip mixed with a ability to controll it with the throttle as well.

I like the Evo a lot overall, but after doing a clutch job on a IX I can tell you that driveline work can be a PITA if you're not used to the car. You cant actually drop the T-case out of the car without either moving the engine a bit or dropping a crossmember which the front controll arms are attached to. My 1G is so easy to work on, especially in comparison to that thing.

Good kill! This a guy who has no idea about other cars other than his own. If your going to mod your car to street race you better be informed about the competion out there because there is plenty. Z06= bad ***!
